There is a property being built right near us by another volume builder and the bricks are Hawksburn (We had a sticky beak cos they looked great even in the pallets!). They aren't cleaned yet, but that will probably be not too far away.

I disagree.. I have moved on with the bricks, I havent moved on with the fundamental issues, and they are fundamental. If communications are bad now, whats it going to be like in 5 months!?

jolesAnd perhaps PD were waiting from clarification from Austral as to exactly when production would cease, how many bricks were already produced and how many would be available to PD for their current clients and those currently at tender or contract. Austral may need to check through their current and incoming orders with all builders before they can get back to PD with those figures. Might have been a bit more complicated than a 35 second email.
Who knows PD might have actually been trying to secure as many bricks as possible for their customers.

MelNRobCould it be that Austral advised the line will be discontinued 2 weeks ago and they have a certain amount of bricks in stock and at the time of your tender the anticipated quantity was still available (as per the stats available to the estimator)?
Austral may just have a blanket statement to anyone enquiring off the street that they are discontinued but the arrangement with PD is that they have XX amount available for homes up to a certain start date.
Maybe you'll still be able to get the brick you want (As Tony said).

I spoke to someone who would appear to be higher up at Austral, he blanket stated, unless you have delivery booked already (which mean your slab was completed) there was no way you were getting Hawthorns, they simply do not have the stock.
Its the lack of comms that gets my goat. I just feel like I wasted time. Time that I dont have, and could have spent being more productive. We spent the weekend driving around Saturday Afternoon looking at Hawthorn Bricks (as well as others) that was a waste of time. Simple email/call is all that is needed, its basic customer service.

), we also changed our gutter and fascia colours, which caused massive headaches for us because our CSC just didn't seem to be able to grasp the changes and we had to send the paperwork back for alterations again and again, dealing with delays each time as our CSC seems to be terminally unable to respond to emails within a reasonable period of time, or at all in many cases.
