Had our PCI yesterday, everything went pretty well - A few things to be fixed.

My main concern is that our render is two different shades as the top level and bottom level were done so far apart (3~ months). Any others had experience with this?

BC suggested they could try and wash it using an acid wash to get the colours closer to a match but that doesn't seem like an acceptable solution to me.

Settlement is meant to be on the 13th of April.. I hope this wouldn't delay settlement but I also don't like my chances of getting this fixed if I pay my final invoice and take the keys..

We had the same problem. We rang Dulux. Details on my blog. We got them to go over the whole wall with a tinted product called Acratex and now it all matches. Do not take handover until it is rectified.  Like  ⋅  Add a comment  ⋅  Pin to Ideaboard  ⋅  Share

Absolutely disgraceful this company is ... shocking and i am really p****d off ... picked up few defects before handover and they promised they will fix it and advised me its done and to go ahead with the re-inspection and looked like a fool in front of the Inspector when he told me 90% of the defects was not rectified or even touched ... and all they care about is Handover ... forget about the stick now i am bringing out the sword to deal with these muppets. wait till i get through with them they will really feel me, i am escalating this all the way to the top and i will be engaging 2 inspectors from now on with a microscope they played the wrong game with the wrong person. I am fuming right now.

I went to site today, interestingly enough there was a tub of this on the ground that had been used.

The render hasn't been further touched by taking another look at it again today it looks awful from all angles - I feel there's no option but to go around the whole house again. I can't fathom why on a double storey house you would render half the house and then finish it off 3 months later - it's like driving a car with 2 different colour panels on it...

I understand from a cost perspective why they do it that way but now they're going to have to spend more to put scaffolding up and re-do the whole house.

That's really poor form. I'd be sending them the bill for the reinspection as well.

What is their plan to rectify the defects? Have they started talking dates for handover? Or are they just not communicating? Request face to face meeting with site supervisor at the house and have printed Darbecca report and ask about each one line by line. We did that with our supervisor. He then sent photos once each was completed.

Their plan of fixing defects is to tell me all been fixed and ready to go, bring your inspector and nothing was done. I am puzzled are they that dumb and stupid to think someone like an inspector who is coming back to re-check the defects will miss if they have been touched or not??? Yeah they did start of talking handover the day after the Final Re-inspection lol

I will be conducting Face to face meeting on a weekly basis now to make sure the defects gets done before calling my inspector again (which i will be getting them to pay for it for wasting my money and time) , I knew there was something wrong when they were trying to push for a quick handover.
