This one is all about staircases, I surprised myself with how much information I have learnt about PD's Staircases and wonder if I will ever need it again after this build. Check it out at: https://forsyth35blog.wordpress.com/201 ... ase-leads/ Cheers C. Again a great read, thanks for writing it very detailed. I can relate myself been gone through some of the pain points while discussing the staircase with PD, i wish i had this much wisdom on staircases before. Btw i guess you are doing flooring post handover, do you mind sharing the details of what have you finalized. Thanks. Hi Thanks and yes we are doing it post hand over. I can make that my next blog. The challenge is the island skirting though ![]() Only way to do it properly is to leave the skirting boards off and install after handover. PD do this but perhaps didn't advise you. Hi guys We asked PD to leave our skirting off downstairs so we could have them put on after handover when the flooring guys have finished installing our timber floor. When we got to contract we were told that PD had changed it's policy and there are now only 2 options. All on or all off. All off means that you would have to paint and install all the skirting yourself (or pay someone) We have a double story house and consider that too much like hard work, so we opted for skirts all on and painted. We asked for all downstairs skirts to be increased from 67mm to 92mm to accommodate the thickness of the timber floorboards, so that they will still look about the same size as the Architraves once the floor is down. We hate the look of the quad, so we have decided to have our flooring direct stuck, this means that there doesn't need to be a 10mm expansion gap around the perimeter of your timber flooring area. P.S. if you would like to read more about our exploits in the world of flooring, stand by for a new post from Charly, she has been asked if her next posting could be about flooring options and how we got to our decision to install after handover. Given how expensive they are it has been a major waste of money down the drain for PD. I did a whole blog post on the damaged colourtech. So disappointing. We were meant to be in our house already and this pic was taken today. Still damaged. PD offer a $10k package however we are looking for cat 2/3 so that is going to probably add another 10k on top. From previous comments on here I am leaning towards post handover but bit concerned about the skirting. We don’t want to have to do it later, so how do you deal with the heights? Are flooring places generally good with advising how far off the ground for the builder to follow? Is it worth doing? Re: Porter Davis homes 16079Jan 12, 2018 10:45 pm Hi Shane, we decided to do the timber flooring through PD and will do the carpets after handover hence avoiding the issue with the skirting. It will also save us close to a week of time. Re: Porter Davis homes 16080Jan 12, 2018 11:34 pm ![]() What’s everyone’s thoughts on doing flooring though PD vs post handover?
