We have both ceramic tiles and laminate in our current PD home. Personally I think laminate requires less maintenance/cleaning and is more hard wearing. Tile grouts are too painful to clean. I also read from other threads that grout sealants don't really work as expected. We have ceramic tiles in our dining, kitchen and wet areas. So far, after 5 years only 1 has a chip on it (can't remember how, but it's at the center of the kitchen floor ) I think Rectified (smaller grout) Porcelain tiles will be easier to maintain than the cat1 ceramic. The laminate floors in our entry/hallway still looks the same as the day they were installed. The only issue I see is, where it meets the stair carpet, it looks like it's now having a bit of a gap, it could be the way it was installed. For our second home we might go with bamboo flooring after handover (way cheaper than PD), more affordable than timber but has higher hardness rating. this suck to read this!! i really hope you get a good outcome soon, as i can only imagine what kind of issues this council is capable of if they are stuffing you around this much just for the planning permit.

does that mean the 6 weeks for approval hasnt yet started?

sorry i meant after the permit, then the 6 weeks min for council approval, as i assume these are two different thing. Soo frustrating, esp given you were onto it so early. Lets hope for a smooth build.

Have PD advised you of any penalty if you don start within a certain month?

Very good thanks, yes we are, fire place is fantastic and still slowly finishing each room. We just got back from Hawaii too so it was defiantly nice to come back to a house which still smells brand new

Our yard is in the process of preparing for spring and all our landscaping. Our decking will also start fairly soon.

Trust me, its worth it when you arrive at the end result. Its just a very painful and testing time for all.

Did you need to use a different sized skirting to line up with carpeted rooms? Asks because we would like the same look and if PD put skirts on the slab in carpeted rooms it would be lower than placing them on top of timber flooring?

Not sure if you remember me I haven't been on here in forever! Your flooring is incredible.
We are supposed to be starting our build Monday weather permitting.
But I've been second guessing my flooring...
I'm getting belero rustic grey but am wanting something more textured.
Do you think I'll have a problem changing it?

Yes the name rings a bell sure we have spoken.. horray for a start.
Depending which stage you are at i suppose, sounds like your at construction so i highly doubt you could make any changes as materials are ordered already ( or so they say) You can always ask but based on what i hear and see you probably wont be able to.

We didn't find a colour we loved with PD That's what we loved with the one we have, it has textured grain through it so to look at it people think straight away its timber. Its been great so far best decision we made so far

So it kinda feels like we didn't make much progress this week unfortunately. We are still waiting on developer approval, we had to do a PCV for some changes that needed to be made to the front of the house and annoyingly the prices on this is higher now than when we discussed it with our previous BC. Unfortunately the previous BC only gave us the prices over the phone as they were in the process of leaving PD and were presumably pretty busy, so now in our discussions with the new BC I could only say what we were told verbally and didn't have anything in writing to hold PD to, which means we didn't really have much of a leg to stand on and have to pay the extra costs. It's not a big difference (only a couple hundred dollars) but it's annoying given that we were told something different. I don't blame my new BC for the changes cause it's not their fault, but it's not our fault either as I'd asked to be emailed the confirmation of the previous prices and this wasn't done, and our original BC has now left PD so we can't do much about it. At least it's not a massive amount of money so it's just an annoyance rather than some sort of massive new cost.

Hopefully everyone else has seen a bit more progress?

The ones were looking to upgrade to have a lot more texture so hopefully we both love it enough to pay the extra!
We got our flooring package for $4000 so if we do upgrade it will around $8500 not to bad.
But it's only going up to a cat 2 laminate!

Sorry I didn't explain properly!
$13k variation break down $3000 fixed price grantee (land took an extra 6 months to title)
$9000 BAL rating changed from 12.5 to 19. Behind our back fence is all farm land so it's nice and peaceful well worth the extra.

Then if we were to upgrade the floors it would be another $4500 on top.

I'm spewing we didn't just leave out the floor from the start. We thought about it before leaving our deposit but just found it more convenient and easier to include it in the quote I guess we forgot about doing it ourselves till now.

I was pregnant during our colour appointment so everything changed once bub was born.
