Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 13601Oct 30, 2016 10:28 am We have had a few issues since our wonderful BC was promoted and we have a new, very young inexperienced one. Building the prestige build PlazaB KDR We where wondering if we should ask to change BC now or if we won't have much to do with her once the build starts? Here are some issues we've had in the past few weeks: -Most importantly she was either mislead herself (most likely) or misled my husband about why the permit was taking so long, blaming council. My husband rang council and they didn't even need council approval for this. She apologied and said she had been mislead by the permits department. - She has told us we need letters signed from neighbours when we didn't causing much angst. This has happened twice. My husband is a having to read all the council website & legislation and had to tell her himself, citing the council, that this was not needed. - we were waiting for PD to tell us to demolish the old house as they tell you too. We finally started demolished on our own and then got told they can't do a lot of things until the old house is demolished. Costed us 3 or 4 weeks. I am pregnant, have a toddler and also working. My husband has a very busy job and works long hours. He is having to pretty much do her job & chase up every little issue. We had no issues whatsoever with our last BC, she was fantastic so please don't think we are these horrible picky people. This one seems...very very new. . We where told the house would probably done for baby due date early April but it looks like it won't even start now until January. What would people advise? Is it our BC or is it just PD? Would changing help? Re: Porter Davis homes 13602Oct 30, 2016 12:43 pm ![]() We have had a few issues since our wonderful BC was promoted and we have a new, very young inexperienced one. Hi Sunshine ,my advise would be to change the BC ASAP .As you are at an initial stage you don't want the grief throughout the build.I changed my sales member during the sales process as she was not helpful , not technically sound , took days to respond if we ask a question or price etc etc etc , my new sales lady is much much better and even able to save us few $$$ as well. Re: Porter Davis homes 13603Nov 01, 2016 9:41 pm Anyone whos had their lock up walk through have anything that is worth looking at while im there? We have ours tomorrow so that we could point out a few things. Just wasnt sure if there were anything i should be checking or looking for. Cant believe we are at lock up!! And noticed through our windows yesterday that our kitchen and cabinets have arrived. How long did it take to fix anything that may be wrong with a cabinet. Ive already noticed there is no soft close on our bathroom cabinets ![]() Re: Porter Davis homes 13604Nov 01, 2016 9:45 pm ![]() We have had a few issues since our wonderful BC was promoted and we have a new, very young inexperienced one. Would changing help? Sorry to hear. This is sounding very familiar as we too are doing a kdr. Thw knowlegde of some of the staff is bad! ESp when its supposed to be something that specialize in. Our bc was pretty good however it was obvious the information was never really known and om several occasions we were beinh fed sooo many different opinions and answers. IM not sure if a change of bc will help however if ur not getting the help u need it would be worthwhile asking for someone who knows what the correct process is. If it makes u feel.better we had the same issues with council and dispensation and our legal point of discharge.. it was a nightmare Re: Porter Davis homes 13605Nov 02, 2016 9:21 pm ![]() We have had a few issues since our wonderful BC was promoted and we have a new, very young inexperienced one. We are waiting for developer approval and then need council approval but after those are done I don't think we have much to do with the BC. Each BC is managing around 60-70 builds at a time so many seem under the pump. We were told to knock down after everything was through council however still the permits to come. We knocked down around July and site start was around September. That seems extremely excessive. Unless this carpet is pure wool? If you can be bothered arranging installation afterwards, I'm sure it'd be cheaper. How soon did PD start once people's KDR where demolished? We demolished at the end of September, and it looks like we will be moving to site start in the next 2-3 weeks (Late November). Thankfully we organised the dispensation with the council on our own, so had it all approved prior to the tender and contract appointments. Our overall experience to date with PD has been very good. Although we got off on the wrong foot, our BC has gone over and above since, looking after our best interests. Let's hope this continues throughout the build. We have employed Darbecca to perform inspections at all the stages, just to ensure we have a smooth build. My wife and I both work long hours so it makes sense.
