This just happened!!!

Although... when we left plumbers were still installing appliances and the cleaner was coming in later - place still a mess. And didn't like that I had to fill in the customer happiness survey with the site supervisor looking over my shoulder.

I was just checking out your blog. I like the laundry cabinet colour, what is that called?

Also what colour garage door are you having? I wanted white like in my picture but I think Surfmist is the lightest I can choose. I notice in the PD pictures of your house design it looks whitish too.

Hello all, just wondering if anyone has had any issues with there aluminum windows where the rubber seals/rubber flashing have been damaged or torn during the install and touched up with sealant making the finish looking quite rough, i'm sure they are sealed and doing there job but i can't stand looking at them. I have my three month inspection coming up and would like to add it to my list and bring this up with PD, so do you think there is anything they can do to make them look better or even replace the seals or is this just how i should expect the finished product?
I have been looking at some of the other builds around me and they seem to be fine so that makes me think that it comes down to poor workmanship from who ever was responsible for the window install.

I have it on good advice that the windows came from China. That might explain the lack of seals installed when assembled.

Ours look the same.

A bit disheartening considering 300K build.

Hopefully the Building Inspector will pipck up on that.

thanks for the reply guys, it is a little disappointing as yes when you spend all that money you just want everything to be right.

And yes Muttonchops they are just the standard range A&L windows, its just one of those things that really gets to me when I see it.

Yeah they need to redo that though. Not good enough quality and can be easily fixed. Hassle them to fix it and if you get no joy talk to their Customer Experience co-ordinator Joanne.

From China? That would explain why it takes 8-9weeks to make new windows when they screw up and install the wrong ones!

Pci today and to say it was disheartening is an understatement!

Works that were notified 5 + weeks ago have still not been done (i.e. Scratched window frames, poor plaster work, glass not fitting in frames etc) !

I was told I was being too fussy going over the paint work and bringing things to attention. "It's all about give and take" apparantely, not expecting quality!

Black grout looks white and they blame it on the product. If they want to avoid upset customers then tell them when they choose dark colours!

Subway tiles in our splash back have chipped edges and the top layer coming off where they have been cut and we were told that if they relay them it will happen again and no fix offered. We are being too picky again.

Drainage is not to the standards and they don't want to do anything about it and leave it for us if we concrete. Cert of occupancy issued when it's not to code!

Mortar missing from bricks on sills, rubbers missing or pushed in.

One replacement window has been delivered and is in the garage but no idea where the other one is.

Had been told handover was next Friday 17th. Move out of rental date arranged, mover etc booked and now they are saying there's too much work to be done and they will try for 2 weeks time!

Today was breaking point after months of hell!

If they actually did their jobs and rectified issues or made plans then we wouldn't be in limbo again! I mean the ss supposedly had done defect checks twice in last little while and hours spent, so why is the house covered in blue tape and so much work yet to be done!

OMG I am so angry for you. I'd put a brief version of this on their Facebook page and I'm sure they'll come running to help you.

OMG I am so angry for you. I'd put a brief version of this on their Facebook page and I'm sure they'll come running to help you.

Thanks. No point really. Got Joanne involved weeks ago. Things supposedly changed, she went away for a week and haven't heard back since! Bc doesn't return calls, emails take days/weeks to respond to if they do at all. And the ******, completely over them.

Today should have been positive and exciting, instead I was in tears!

Our site supervisor is trying to flog it off as a "builders clean"... Windows are still dirty etc. Very very unhappy. He's speaking to his boss and I'm keen to hear what people think before I hear back.

In my experience when we moved into our rental, a builders clean is not clean at all! Our windows were dirty, floors dirty, still had plaster dust everywhere.

Our ss has told us a few times that we will need to clean properly before we move in.

Hopefully they will get it a little better for you at least

I know our place has been cleaned 3 times already and will have one more before we move and it's still not super clean.

Oh and you will find that dust will hang around for months too!

Went past the house last night

we were told last week painting was happening then told on Friday that it would be happening over the weekend! Got there Sunday and the painters were peeping 3 days later (last night) went there and not a tin of paint or paint brush on site!! Also SS said this week fit offs would be happening... Now it's time to start being on there back!! We aren't doing flooring through them and the only thing the have done in the last 2 weeks is the stone and they couldn't get that bloody right... No more nice guy

That's not good at all. Bet it was too cold and wet to start painting, that's what we got told haha.

they have no idea what’s going on, when its going on, or have any idea how to manage a customer expectation..

we are beyond fed up and we are in 7 months in still waiting on council (although we don’t blame them) its pd whom fail to do the right thing and actually put forward the solution to problems... we are lucky enough to be involved in an ongoing issue regarding our legal point of discharge, and my husband is physically having to speak to pd's plumbers and council to manage the appropriate solution.. simply because pd have no idea nor really care. Their solution is to just put forward the most expensive and probably 'easiest' option for them...after 2 months of bs and absolute rubbish excuses we've had enough and look they’ve lost our trust in all honesty.... i feel sick that we are even building with them ::dizzy::

who knows what will come of the next two weeks, we wont be extending our demo for the 3rd time i know that!
at this point itll be make or break for us as we can only imagine the NIGHTMARE we will be in for until this house is completed.

i am no builder but after reading and seeing for myself so many terrible examples of bad workmanship the next part of the journey scares me! (thats if we are even still here)

I was told by someone fairly senior that the reason they stopped having essastone is they went into receivership and the "boat [with the crystal chalk] got turned back". Which is funny because Laminex/Essastone is still very much alive and bringing a new range out this month. Hmmmm.

Joanne confirmed builders clean is the go... another thing to add to the long email we're writing. Do they not think about how sucky it is to be given the keys to a brand new house only to have the cleaning job be average at the best and windows worse than that? I mean, I figured this stuff was common sense. Our site supervisor's boss was getting the cleaner out again but she's no window washer. But I'm sick of fighting PD, I don't have the energy for it any more.

theyre like that coz they already get the money so for us clients they just left us alone,theyve done iy to us,they handed over our house with messy windows,dusty inside!and until now they are not returning the letter that i am requesting for them that if something happen on our weatherboard because its not properly sealed is that held liable but nearly a year that we are residing in our home we havent receive any even we keep on asking them!we are nkt going to build with this company no more,im blaming myself that we should choose CARLISLE rather than this Porter davis!my advice is check everything before yoi moved in once they handed your keys you are the once who is chasing them and honestly you will loose your temper!

In better news we have landscaping sorted starting Wednesday. Got lucky the guy we liked had a cancellation. Can't do as much as we would have liked but will do for the next few years at least. All this post handover stuff sure adds up. Blind quotes on Tuesday, will do pendants and fans through Beacon and air conditioning closer to summer.

Now just waiting for some of my favourite stores (Retrojan, Freedom, Adairs) to hit EOFYS sales
