We got a quote 6030 for our drive way, path to the door, both sides and also extending the alfresco on top and double the size. This is for colored concrete and so far we are happy but I guess we just wanted to compare

Gah!!!! My suggestion to you all when you get to PCI is to double check your selections have actually been installed, especially if like us you made them more than a year ago and the memory is a little fuzzy. My husband caught the kitchen tap on the day but my niggling feeling that the bath tap outlet was also wrong (it didn't match the rest of our tapware & I figured maybe we'd gone with a standard inclusion... not so!!!) just got strong enough for me to check the documentation and sure enough the wrong one was put in. That's two wrong taps

Gah!!!! Lucky you re checked the bath tap... Tell them to move their butt in fixing it! You don't have long!!

how werd is it looking back at old pictures even to when it was just land and you flick through and theres something on there now. amazes me everytime

Talking about cheap concrete, we got ours poured cheaper for $1,420. It was for 17sqm, 180mm thick at 25MPa, works out to be cheaper than $1,600 for 32sqm (assuming regular thickness and strength). You can probably get it for cheaper from the same guy, since there is a 5% discount deal on my blog.

I think about that all the time! Despite all the headaches it's been one of the most special & enlightening experiences of the build. The photo of my brother & husband was taken Jan 2 and I remember thinking how crazy it was that by Jan 2 2017 we'd be well settled into an actual house. Now all that empty land is buzzing, a couple of people are in already, it's just amazing! I mean, going back even further I think it took to the start of December to be able to drive down to the land. From when we paid the deposit in March we would go down every month to see how much further we could drive down the estate. It's been so much fun watching it all develop. I guess the main thing is we're still as happy with our choice of estate as we were when we first decided to buy there

Did anyone build a rochford 34? Just wanted to check if your 1st floor elevation A(garage side) had brickwork or rendered cement board as standard? We are being charged extra 6k to have this bricked!

Hi Luinel, as I said in my blog to your two posts brick to the first floor was a standard inclusion with my build - but we did sign the paperwork nearly 2 years ago. I didn't even realise they did first floors that weren't brick. Are you sure this isn't down to the facade that you've chosen? My personal preference would be for brick, but that's just me. You could always look at getting the Hebel option for the full house, that may even be cheaper than just bricking the first floor.

Has anyone built the Waldorf Grange? I'm worried about heating the living area with the void. I'm thinking of having hydronic underfloor heating for the downstairs.

We are building the Waldorf Grange. How did you go with your heating question? I am planning on putting a gas fireplace in the formal lounge and sit in there most nights.

Major stuff up!!! Great to see all our stone was in... But they put the colors the opposite way in the kitchen... All bloody glued down and all and it's wrong!!! Phone calls start tomorrow not bloody happy!!! First they make us change then they can't get it right! Second thing that has stuffed up with kitchen culture and there is a 3rd for the led strip which there is a cut out under the cupboard but no led cover like the other spots... Not happy Jan

Thanks for your response. Apologies for thr multiple post in your blog. Until now I cannot see any of them or even your responses. Hence, the post here. Anyhow, makes sense that it is brick all over. We did consider Hebel however, I have read in another thread that it doesnt provide as much sound barrier at it promised and that it seemed the wall was like just a curtain. Hearinf everything!

Spoken with our BC and SS all the stone in the kitchen will be resloved peww! Even our BC couldnt believe how big of a stuff up that was! Currently trying to sort out the issue of the LED strip that they cut out the provision for under one cupboard.. apparently was not included in the price and if we want it to match our cooktop wall we have to buy the strip in the 4m roll which is another $950... my husband is not happy and has lost it! He was an electrican background and knows what they are worth. waiting to hear back from him to see how he goes :S
