I have a heap of good mates who are custom builders, my grandfather was an engineer, his best mate was a builder...

And we have built two houses in the past 10 years...

Most of it's looking at things with a different perspective...

I struggled with the PD design phase, but we're finally put down our deposit a couple of weeks back... (First volume builder experience) ...

Will have to update our thread when I have time...

It's a wood door right?
Given the changes in humidity over the last few days, I would not be surprised if doors bowed a bit; they did in my 10 YO house. Or is this a permanent thing?

Really unhappy with the Blanco 900mm wide oven.
My fault, I made a wrong assumption.
The oven space, though the width of a 900 is NOT the depth that I'd have expected it to be.

It's about 35-36 cm deep. I just checked my Electrolux Steam Oven, and it's 44cm deep (a 600 wide).

So I can not put my two roasting trays side by side to cook two ducks etc in the same oven.

Thank god I put a second UBO in the galley!

It's the 900 free standing cooker.
I don't have a rangehood yet (tomorrow! ??) so I can not even tell you how the gas top works.

One thing I will say, compared to my Miele the glass of the oven door, and the metal above the door opening gets uncomfortably hot.

One thing I will say, compared to my Miele the glass of the oven door, and the metal above the door opening gets uncomfortably hot.

We have a cheaper Blanco model in our current place and yep, it's not good in that respect.

Can't even us the elements to rest the cookie tray on as I build cookies because the chocolate melts from the radiant heat of the oven.

never had that issue before. I just thought we had a dud, I didn't consider it was a brand wide issue

Yep, it's permanent.

I used a spirit level and it seems the bow is just in the one corner. Do you think PD will fix this, is it their responsibility?

I spoke to Porter Davis, they won't fix the door because the bow is only 5mm. It needs to be more than 6mm before they'll do anything about it.

I read somewhere ages ago that a door that lets in dust or moisture is defective, but now I can't seem to find the article. I thought it was on the BCA but can't find any references on it. Looks like we'll just have to live with it, or hope it will bow a little more in the next few years.

In other news, we've finally completed our shed / workshop, blog updated.

So on the VBA Guide to Standards & Tolerances, it had what I wanted in regards to bows and door seals. But so far no luck trying to get Porter Davis to do anything... as usual.

From my experience, their warranty only lasts until the 3 month maintenance. Any issues after that, good luck have fun! Thankfully, nothing serious has happened so far.

Is there anything specific in the Guide for Window 'squareness' ?

Hmm nothing about squareness, but usually if it's not square, it's probably bowed:

Clause 8.08 Bowed window heads, sills and jambs
Windows frames are defective if they are distorted to the extent that the function of the window is adversely affected.

A building inspector like Building-Expert or Darbecca would know better.

One of my front doors (ive got double front door), doesnt line up aswell. I showed them this at 3month maintenance, then when the contractor came to fix it he said he wasnt sure what was causing it and thinks the whole door frame may be out of square. So he left it. I think the door is bowed, im surprised PD hasnt sent Corinthian out to have a look at it before deciding how to proceed. There is another contractor supposed to come and see if he can fix it, but im not hopeful

Do you know how much was the bow. It's not Corinthian's problem because our bow is 5mm and it needs to be 6mm. The issue is the seals aren't touching the door anymore and according to the Guides & Tolerances, door that lets in moisture is defective because it means the rubber seals around the door is out of spec.

Corinthian aren't responsible for the door seal, the builder is. We would've fixed it ourselves but bunnings only sells 4mm max thick door seals which is not enough. So I've now purchased some 10mm car door seals and hopefully that's good enough.

I'm looking for facade pictures of the Plaza 44 if anybody has any. Ideally with the Hyde Park facade, I'm looking for different options of rener, face brick etc, even a standard Hyde Park facade would be great to help visualise. Pictures are very hard to come by!

Have a look at the Waldorf Gallery on their website... Should give you an idea as to how it will look

Thanks Drew but I'm looking for photos other than their Display home facades, more in line with basic because as you know display home photos always cost extra! normally a lot extra ;-)
