Communication is virtually non existent, although our new BC seems quite good. The temporary fencing, site toilet and rubbish cage have been taken away from site, which is kind of good as it feels like the end is close, but now trades have thrown their lunch rubbish in the yard and our 'Respect the Dream' fence banner has been literally dumped in the dirt in the middle of the front yard, graffitied and has a trail of painty water all over it. It's almost amusing.. We have a few jobs yet to go - they do seem to be working through them, though the pace is extremely excruciatingly slow.. although that may be more my excitement and impatience. - render to front pillars - put in wall mounted taps to ensuite, as ones chosen couldn't be fitted. Ended up with a good wall tap compromise - fix up tiling around new taps - taps to ensuite shower seem to be MIA - finish garage roof and downpipes - install the splashback, which was scheduled I think for last Monday, then this Monday, and still hasn't happened - install remaining retaining wall sections - hook up ag pipe behind retaining walls to stormwater - clean brickwork to the side of the garage - resolve LPOD issue (it was installed in the wrong spot) - fix fences - fix footpath/street tree. For anyone who has done a KDR where there was damage to fences and or footpath - how has this been resolved? Oh, and on a positive note, I think things have been somewhat slightly smoothed over with my neighbours and their car. I still owe them a bottle of scotch though I think. Build blog - http://hasslingthehoff.wordpress.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 11786Aug 26, 2015 9:15 pm We received some unexpected good news yesterday. Our Site Start is scheduled for next Tuesday! ![]() On another note, those who have done KDR, how did you juggle asset protection/crossover damage. Our demolition company has caused some significant damage to our crossover, the footpath and completely ripped up half of our nature strip. We don't see the sense in repairing all this, for it to be potentially damaged again next week. Does PD repair any damage they make prior to handover? If so, do we then have to pay the bill or is that factored into our site costs already? I look forward to posting here more regularly with updates on how our build is going. We've really appreciated living vicariously through all your blogs and posts, so thanks... now it's our turn! There were a few cracks on pavement prior to pd starting and they won't repair those sections of crossover even if destroyed excessively beyond it. So ours was not great at start and now is fully destroyed. We have to pay about a quarter of repair costs. My advice would be to extend your asset protection to at least the end of build. PD will fix their damage and you can get their concreter to repair the others out of your expense. He'll work out cheaper since PD is already paying him to be there. Also, if you are doing any major landscaping after build that needs heavy machinery in, it will be better to extend your asset protection to cover that period too as your footpath could get damaged again. So basically the idea is to defer the repair as long as you can. We're pretty much in the same boat as you. We have been given an 'unofficial' PCI date from our SS but pretty sure he will stick to it as he asked me to book in the independent inspector. I feel your frustration! Let's just say that we are SOOO glad that we didn't have our latest (3rd) BC throughout the build. Communication is well... what communication? Honestly can't be bothered kicking up a fuss about it because we're so close to hand over. Glad to hear things with the neighbour have been smoothed over. Joanne does a wonderful job in damage control for PD. Kudos. Re: Porter Davis homes 11791Aug 27, 2015 1:25 pm Quote: PD won't repair existing damage. I just spoke to the council and they're extending it, pretty much for as long as I want, because as you say Sliik, they'll be landscaping work to be done afterwards.
