Anyone doing PCI or handover, I'm telling you DO not take keys until everything is fixed. Big mistake . 2 months in and still waiting .

Hi, can anyone tell us about their tender experiences with pd. we have ours on Saturday. Really worried that they may bombard us with expensive site costs and unexpected cost. Any info wold be greatly appreciated.

Ours went for 6 hours and the presenter was amazing. She made suggestions that we had not thought of and was full of amazing advice. She would not say no to anything unless she has a rock solid explanation. I am surprised that you have your appointment on a Saturday.

Nope... but we have a very flat block and so only a site scrape was needed.

Our site costs went from $25k estimate to $40k at our Tender appt. Not sure how they misjudged it so much, but it was enough for us to cancel our build with PD.

I will make a note! i can already picture myself caving in at the end and trusting things will be finished afterwards

That sounds scary. I don't understand why they keep you waiting in regards to site costs. All this worry could be avoided if they told you before youre selections appointment. If you don't mind me asking, who did you end up building with instead of PD?

Our site costs were reduced at tender, so we put more money into other things like double glazing..

Then, on the second soil survey they went back up again by $6k via a Building Variation (BV) to more than they had been quoted as it was decided we did need a retaining wall and soil fill. We weren't very pleased:/

Our tender was very very lengthy, so glad we brought some food with us, as you don't want to be rushed. From recollection we also had someone else looking after the kids which was good, as we ran over time by a fair bit.

I would suggest you do absolutely as much as you can on the day as things seemed to 'fall out' so to speak from the quote stage to the tender stage so we spent a long time trying to make sure we added things back in (i.e. between floor insulation etc).

Do your homework before tender - look at the things I forgot threads, PD upgrade threads, think about what is easier as you build (insulation, windows in certain places, LEDs downstairs) vs what you can do later (light fittings, LEDS upstairs, adding extra cabinetry etc).

dojrude - Yes, I would be very frustrated with cables being terminated to the wrong place. I think given the hard time we have been given and the refusal to make any even small change or variations for us I would be requesting that PD don't make any changes, or that I be compensated for the inconvenience if it was not possible. I'm glad that Joanne has forwarded the issue for action on your behalf.

Joanne - Can you advise where I can get any more info on who is involved in the rewards program?
We're between lock up and fix stage and I haven't been given any information. The PD rewards email address on the PD website bounces/doesn't seem to exist any more. Can anyone tell me if there are any lighting or removalist related discounts, or electrical goods discounts through PD rewards?

I was glad I spoke with the guy doing the original electrical fit out and explained why we wanted things in certain spots - he was really nice and was interested to know why on earth he was fitting something off like that at certain points (i.e. power for the caravan outside, fittings for under the stairs etc).

I am sure I am in the same boat that I won't be winning any points or ipads for my reviews - although with our BC leaving I am hoping communication and our general experience improves. For us, communication has been one of the major issues. Our slab supervisor was great and we had no issues with a temp fill in BC when ours was away. Similarly with the fill in SS.

Exactly what we did. After everything we went through, we thought we would have been top priority. Seems not I'm still waiting for a door handle that trapped my daughter in her room for 1 hr. Plaster/paint from PCI . List goes on
