Top one for cutlery, and some other things we use really frequently such as stickey tape, scissors, etc. It has a divider. Second one for all sort of kitchen utensils. Third one for tea towels, apron and food wraps (foil, glad wrap, baking paper, etc) Bottom on for miscellaneous frequently needed items (ok, it's a junk drawer! ) Basically what we'd normally have in a standard size bank of drawers, but it is sooo much easier to see everything and find things. I hate cupboards.... apart from the overheads we've only ended up with two sets of cupboards in the entire kitchen. Drawers are the best things. Love them. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Porter Davis homes 1604Apr 19, 2011 12:43 am joles Umm, I'm guessing you mean me? We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of drawers that came standard with the Waldorf and are delighted with the balance of drawers and cupboards for things like glasses. We got stung with this - our plans had a noticably shorter island bench as PD had changed the standard from the display home. We were very disapointed with what they put in and it cost us about $1000 to get it fixed up i noticed that on the weekend lunchy! We went back to the display home as Rob wanted to get a feel for the dimensions of the theatre room and i was looking at the island thinking something is different to the plans. Its not an issue for me though, as it's only about a 500mm wide single cabinet but it's true, it's that old thing of don't think what is in a display home is the standard. Always ask and double check! Hi Mel, Is it because the display is a 48? Or should the kitchen remain the same size in the 44? Hey there Mimi, i reread my post and must've been having an off day...keep forgetting that we "downsized" to the 44...all these dimensions and figures is doing my head in...lol I would think so though, as there's .90m difference in length from the 48 to the 44 so it would make sense the island being that bit longer... Any news on your front? Building Waldorf 44 with PD Feel free to follow our build progress - http://melnrobsknockdownrebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 1608Apr 20, 2011 9:52 am Hey guys, Can I ask if anyone has installed data cable of home networking in their new house? I looking to get cat 6 cabling installed and just want to know what others have done in terms of home networking. Cheers Re: Porter Davis homes 1609Apr 20, 2011 10:20 am tstr1a Hey guys, Can I ask if anyone has installed data cable of home networking in their new house? I looking to get cat 6 cabling installed and just want to know what others have done in terms of home networking. Cheers Absolutely yes! We have a good friend who was more than qualified to do it, but due to not being able to have your own tradies to come on site and do it during the build we opted to bite the bullet and pay to have it done by PD. Particularly important as it is a two storey build. We were particular about having all the cabling spot on downstairs, but figured if we needed to fine tune upstairs we could do so later. Having said that, we feel we got everything right as we have every room wired for future networking. I’m installing data points to the whole house as you can never have enough data points. The study is where the network switch/route will sit and stream contents to the data points. I have crap everywhere at the moment and my lovely organised filing system is in major need of a makeover! The electrical selections were divided into two parts, from memory the $1781 was for the ducted vacuum system with kitchen kicker shute (woot!!) and the 2nd one for $3672 was all our other wiring and selections. We certainly didn't go overboard with power point choices etc as we can always change those later - we just kept it simple. We did however make sure we have plenty of points put in for all of our entertainment networking upstairs and downstairs and had all the data cabling brought back down into the cloak room where we will install the "hub". We also had the house wired for future intercom setup. Our tech friend is then coming out to set us up all. He is a qualified technician with all the required tickets so we have no qualms. This includes $1,300 for an alarm system, $380 for home theatre cabling and GPO and $4,820 for data points, downlights, power points, junction boxes and the rest. We didn’t end up getting the ducted vacuum system (would have loved to but costs are spiralling out of control). Intercom and speakers I’ll pre-wire myself. Re: Porter Davis homes 1613Apr 20, 2011 11:03 am Hi, I'm regarding the telephone line which we would get in the new house. I am looking for the plans with the providers for Naked broadband & one of the providers asked for the phone number. - At the hand over do we get inform of a phone number for our new house? - Anyone from South Eastern Region having a TPG naked broadband? Please PM... flagstaffIV : Thanks for the info.. Yes if we want to switch to another service provider for Electricity & Gas we can inform PD before hand over, if not PD will transfer our names with the existing provider. When I enquired for the name of the provider for Electricity & gas I got to know that will be from Origin, not sure whether this would depend on the location. Thanks.... I believe PD uses Origin as since that is who we we're with too before they handed over our house. No you don't get provided with a phone number at handover. Did you get PD to dig the phoneline trench for you? If you haven't then you'll need to contact Vision Stream to get the trench organised and contact Telstra to connect it up for you. Perhaps test the phone number of the land sales centre in your area... and checkout Whirlpool forums for the providers that supply your area. I'm using Kevin to inspect my home and have been extremely impressed with some of the points picked up by him. Luckily for me, none of them were too serious, but they were issues which I would never have picked up on due to my lack of building knowledge in this country !!! IMO, anyone spending the kind of money necessary to build a house these days should definately consider including the cost of an independant inspection during the build.
