The reason why you pay for 2 x points is because we have to cable 2 x runs of quad sheild coax cable to service High definition Foxtel The phone point has nothing to do with high definition, it is only there so you can buy movies etc.. Ok, so I am not going mad. Roof Tiles go on today, had a minor delay with our bricks! Should be here next week. Hi humble, How are your roof tiles looking, are they all finished now? Re: Porter Davis homes 3254Sep 23, 2011 8:28 pm Wateman What are the 'multi socket points' included with the data packs offered by argus? Anybody have a pic? Or know what is on one? Hi Wateman, These are what we have from our data packs. Are you talking about signal points (i.e. data and tv signals) or are you talking about GPO's? We have a 4 point GPO in our theatre (i don't have a pic of this) and a double GPO around the house. We have got combination data and pay tv/free to air tv points on a single plate in the living area. In our drawings we had a Pay TV point and a HD pay TV point at the same location. We requested them to delete the Pay TV point and only keep the HD Pay TV point. We were not sure if the electrical consultant had made a mistake. So now we are left with just a HD Pay TV point (Foxtel IQ2/HD -2 x RG6 and 1xCat 6 cable). Will this allow us to watch TV or do we need more. Re: Porter Davis homes 3257Sep 24, 2011 6:53 pm Forgot to inform that our BC has finally sent us the PCV with no errors... We received our PCV only after just 2 months and 15 days from signing our contract...this is after 3-4 email reminders...amazing service standards isn't it!! Re: Porter Davis homes 3258Sep 24, 2011 7:03 pm Thanks for your help guys, MelNRob, you understood what I meant! I think I'm worrying too much about this data stuff, but I hate not fully understanding these things and I just want to get it right! Re: Porter Davis homes 3259Sep 24, 2011 7:48 pm J & C - I have been lead to believe that for HD pay TV, you need 2 x RG6 points + a data point. And speaking of service standards, ANOTHER story to tell about my BC.. I emailed her asking a question on Tuesday, on Friday she emailed me about an unrelated subject, so in my reply I asked if she had managed to get the answer to my question. Her reply was 'I can only refer you back to Argus, as they are the source of the information, but if you haven't had any luck getting an answer from them I doubt I would'. (I had told her I had spoken to them the week before when I made a couple of changes but hadn't managed to get the answer from them). She then when on to say 'can you please detail the changes you have made as I have not yet received anything from Hopetoun'. So I emailed Hopetoun and asked my question, and asked if they had made the changes to my plan yet, they forward me an email from Wednesday addressed to my BC not only answering my question, but also with my updated plans etc. So I don't know what to think, she obviously asked them about my changes and asked them my question and they sent both back to her Wednesday morning. She either didn't read the email, or didn't do anything about it. We can't ask her questions, and can't rely on her to get our details or plans right, so we have to keep on the ball and chase all these things up constantly. Again, none of this was a big problem, but it worries me that soooooo many little things like this keep happening and I haven't even started building yet. We haven't signed our contract yet, we love the house, and our selections, but we are starting to have second thoughts. I know we are paying a premium to build with PD for our first house, but we were prepared to do so after having a heartbreaking stuff up with the 1st builder and house/land package we tried to go ahead with. We thought paying extra to go with the most 'professional' builder would make things easy and give us peace of mind, now I'm thinking we could probably save quite a bit of money and go with somebody else that can't be any worse! We haven't had our soil test yet, so we shouldn't even lose our deposit, but it would still be upsetting to have to start all over again..again. Re: Porter Davis homes 3260Sep 25, 2011 8:14 pm oh wateman, i feel for you. All i can say is don't let your BC influence your build journey. You stay on top of it like you have been, keep asking for the information and don't stop until you get it. Get things clear in your mind and communicate all this to your BC and eventually your SS. Once the admin things get sorted (And be very careful and go over everything with a fine tooth comb) your main communications will be with the Site Supervisor. We've been very lucky in that our BC has been very on the ball with things. She's very thorough and always strives to get the answers we need - i know this doesn't help your situation but stick to your guns and put it back on her. Back up your requests in writing so if it needs to be escalated you can show that you have done the right thing and that she has not been doing her job correctly. Although we have had a relatively smooth build journey, there are a few things now that we are nearing the end which aren't as they should be on our plan and specifications. We'll communicate this to our SS this week (particularly as we are so close to our first PCI) Tonight i've got my cuppa and all the plans out and photos (my gosh i would be in mega trouble if we weren't in the digital age with the amount of photos that i have taken! lol) and i am going through room by room. All communications (like emails/notes etc) i've put in a folder for reference. Maybe it's a flow through from my job (Centre manager for a shopping centre) but i take notes of everything! If you have any questions regarding the data stuff, don't hesitate to ask. Rob is pretty cluey with this (i left it to him to organise cos i just hear blah blah blah with all the technical stuff.. ) Good luck!
