My colour appointment is in 2 weeks and I want to understand the process before I get there. Re: Porter Davis homes 1262Mar 01, 2011 4:09 pm Does anyone know the cost per m2 of the Cat 1 carpet?? Just want to know as i'm thinking about changing it to tiles and want to know what i should get refunded as the current promotion includes carpet to whole house. My colour appointment is in 2 weeks and I want to understand the process before I get there. PD use wattyl ID as their paint supplier. They dont charge anything for different colours but there are some colours that they say require a 3rd coat and they will charge for this. We didnt go down this path as our colour consultant was able to recommend a very similar colour. You will most likely have to pay extra for tiles, especially if you upgrade the tiles. It is much harder to lay tiles than carpet & will take a lot longer as well, so naturally you'll have to pay for the extra work. __________________________________________ Built Camberwell 29 with PD - Hand Over was on 22/12/10 http://ssazcamberwell29.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 1266Mar 01, 2011 5:03 pm I'm happy to pay the difference, just wondering what the price of the carpet would be so i can subtract it from the tile price and work out what i'm going to be stung. Area is roughly 50m2 and tiles have been quoted at $3500 laid, so I want to know what the price would roughly be for Cat 1 Carpet in the same area. Re: Porter Davis homes 1267Mar 01, 2011 6:47 pm Checking to report that we had our pre-PCI today. I was really stressed thinking it was the PCI as the house didnt look complete to me. Our SS was fantastic though, turns out he wanted a PCI for Thursday and handover for Friday, this was just to make sure we caught stuff sooner rather than later. I've pushed handover to next week, scheduled the PCI for Friday and completed the pre PCI today. Lots and lots of cosmetic stuff, a few bigger ticket items like seals missing, gaps here and there but I'm happy with the attention to detail so far. I'm a happy camper. Now for next week! A Re: Porter Davis homes 1269Mar 02, 2011 1:37 pm FYI I heard back from my CSA about carpet rebate to change living/dining to tiles and they have generously decided to rebate $875. Wow 50m2 of carpet which works out to $17.50sq m. Just a slight difference to the $65sq m i'm being stung for the tiles. Very tempted to give it all away, there are only so many times I can be bent over and screwed on price. What they haven’t rebated back is labour and the underlay…. Total crap. They will sell u an item at full retail price and credit u back their cost price… Re: Porter Davis homes 1271Mar 02, 2011 3:35 pm tstr1a That’s differently the price of cat 1 carpet (ring up carpet court and find out). From what we were told, the "credit" for standard tiles goes towards paying for the additional tiler required to lay this size tile. We actually asked about this when we were in one of the National Tiles stores (just browsing as a regular customer) and the guy confirmed that this is correct. Also, apparently porcelain does require some expertise in laying to a high standard, so this is also factored into the "credit" for standard tiles. Our porcelain are 600X600, we priced the tiles at a National Tiles store (ceramic portofino $28.95m2 and majestic ivory polished $32.95m2 for a 30sq home and our porcelain tile bill came in at $4932 odd, go figure. $3 odd difference majority of tiles, we're having the same for floor and walls and they charged nearly $5k Splashback in the powder room with 4 tiles retail price $38.95 each and PD charged $334 These are real figures, I have the pics and quote to prove it. We questioned them on it and were pretty much told take it or leave it. Like I said, i've moved on. I decided not to go ahead with the vinyl wrap kitchen upgrade for $4k, as I had paid for a kitchen in our home already and didn't want to pay for another one. Bunnings charge $40 per standard door for a vinyl wrap door...
