Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 15382Sep 04, 2017 12:32 pm brucefil2011 plantation shutters take 4 months They might take 4 months to make, but assuming you know the dimensions of your windows that should be all that is needed to have them made? Then have whoever did it hold onto the shutters until the house is ready. I agree it's frustrating not to know exactly when the house is going to be completed, but it's not entirely within PD's control because a) they don't control the weather and b) they don't know what tradies are necessarily going to be available when 3 months in advance. I would hazard a guess that whoever is doing the plantation shutters for you is aware of the fact that builders don't know exactly when a house will be ready and has some sort of workaround like storing them etc. Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis homes 15383Sep 04, 2017 3:14 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build Has anyone ever delayed paying an invoice until defects for that stage of the build were rectified? - View my blog at http://www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Porter Davis homes 15384Sep 04, 2017 3:16 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build Has anyone ever delayed paying an invoice until defects for that stage of the build were rectified? - View my blog at http://www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com I am at the moment ... i am having a lot of issues with defects not getting fixed and i have delayed payment till it is fixed , on top of that they have Ly-ing to me saying it is fixed to get me to pay the invoice only to find out defects has not been touched when i attend the site. I am over Porter Davis at the moment and i would not even recommend them, I mean deceiving me to get me to pay an invoice is crossing the line and now they have insulted my intelligence i will be on to them like glue. I mean i have no idea how some of those defects has passed their surveyor/inspector is beyond me. Re: Porter Davis homes 15385Sep 05, 2017 11:15 am Some good news, we now have our building permit! We've been moved to construction and hopefully work will actually start on site in the next few weeks, looking forward to seeing something actually happen on our block of land. We went for a drive past the block on the weekend and only one house in our little part of the estate has started construction so far, none of the ones next to use have had any work done on site. In the next street over where most houses have already been constructed there is a PD house being built that looks like a Kew 28 with the same facade as ours, reassuringly we were pretty happy with how it looked. We weren't really bothered how ours looked both before and after having to change it, so at least all the stuffing around with developer approval hasn't made us worse off in terms of the way the house looks. Our building permit was issued on the 23rd of August and work started yesterday so you shouldn't be waiting to long Re: Porter Davis homes 15387Sep 07, 2017 8:05 pm Any of you experienced PD using untreated mulch around the slab? This could be a temporary measure to prevent mud and it looks good. However I'm not sure if it is an open invitation to the termites. They used crushed rock around ours but now there are pools of water from the rain. Perhaps it is to avoid that? - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Porter Davis homes 15389Sep 07, 2017 8:28 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build I haven't seen this before. They will be buried deep by the time PD finished the construction. My concern is if that attracts the termites while being there. Rather than waiting for the frame inspection, I'm going to get some advise from New Home Inspections. Our termite barrier was installed around the slab fairly early on. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Porter Davis homes 15396Sep 08, 2017 8:39 am Ashik_09 Hello All, just wondering how long does the BC take to respond to emails. I dropped her an email on Monday and haven't received any response yet its about some inconsistencies in the contract We're now on our third BC, the first two both responded within a couple of days to emails or phone calls and we haven't actually had to do anything with the new BC yet. If you emailed on Monday I would definitely be expecting a response by the end of the week though unless it's something which is likely to take them a while to find out the information.
