Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 16681Mar 15, 2018 10:37 pm Went to our site today. Think they have stuffed up a window. Our plans state that it is a special style window 21-06A. I assumed this was an awning window. Got there today and it's a complete fixed panel special style window. Not happy. It means that whole room does not have an openable window. Should my windows be exactly as on the plans? Can they change it without changing plans or telling us, or does it sound like a stuff up?

Re: Porter Davis homes 16684Mar 15, 2018 10:55 pm I see what you mean, I agree that it should be an awning window... have you spoken to the SS yet? Re: Porter Davis homes 16685Mar 15, 2018 11:08 pm shane3340 I see what you mean, I agree that it should be an awning window... have you spoken to the SS yet? Not yet. We only discovered it at 7 tonight. Not sure if I should contact him about it specifically, considering I shouldn't technically be on site, or if I should request an inspection and bring it up then? I would just raise it ASAP. Our site supervisor appreciates if we pick up errors and does not care if we access the site without him. Re: Porter Davis homes 16689Mar 16, 2018 5:16 am We are having polished solid spotted gum in the living areas with carpet in the bedrooms. see more at hoffmangoldwithporterdavis.wordpress.com Re: Porter Davis homes 16690Mar 16, 2018 5:26 am Waldorf_Grange_Build Laura Ireland I see what you mean, I agree that it should be an awning window... have you spoken to the SS yet? [/quote]We had single glazed windows and doors installed instead of double glazed upstairs in our balcony. Dont assume anyone at PD checks everything as the SS have lots of houses at any one time and as the carpenters have been screwed to the bone on thier rates they will chuck in what ever is there. I agree with the other comments, your best bet is to inform your SS by phone then take a photo of the sticker on the window showing what it is and email it to your SS and BC and state you dont think it is correct and that it may need to be changed and ask someone to confirm back to you on writing what will be done and by when. My experience has been anything you organised on the job that is not in the standard house has not neccesarily been transfered to your house by PD's drafting team. For example we had an entire rain water recovery system to our toilets that was not done and luckily I picked it up before the plaster started going on. You will be delayed or have a house without items if PD stuff up so its in your intrest to check everything because again "do not beleive PD check anything." The proof for that is within this topic. see more at hoffmangoldwithporterdavis.wordpress.com Re: Porter Davis homes 16694Mar 17, 2018 8:14 am shane3340 For those of you who built the whole house in hebel, how does the internal of your garage look? Is it all plastered? Yes our garage looks the same as the rooms in the house. Plaster. Cornices. Skirting boards. Re: Porter Davis homes 16696Mar 17, 2018 10:10 am shane3340 Thanks everyone... are you happy you went with hebel? We are going that way, but everyone I’ve seen on forums still think brick is better. We like the look of it but a bit worried now to be honest. When our tiles were delivered they chipped one of the alfresco posts and it looked terrible and weak. SS reckons it would have been the same if it was bricked, I’m not too sure though. Hebel to the whole house was included for free as a promotion for us.
