Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 9001Jan 27, 2014 12:02 pm Hi All, My Husband and I have put down a deposit yesterday for house and land with Porter Davis. We are building the Monaco in Eucalypt Estate Wollert. I know its just the beginning but so far so good. Just wondering if anyone else has built this house or in this estate? Also has anyone mainly gone with standard inclusions (category 1) with colours, taps, doors etc I know the selection is not as wide but is it possible without upgrading and still have a good quality house. Thanks, Tan Re: Porter Davis homes 9002Jan 27, 2014 12:13 pm MummaDJ Scott2233 Anyone consider sound insulation batts between floors? If 3k, Is it worth it? Our experience was and I have seen others a few months back also comment, that PD will not allow between floors. We put sound insulation around our media room. I would also consider putting around the powder room if I had my time again. May I know why particular PDW room? Thouht that is the room will be used least ...... Also , I saw PD allow ppl put insulation batts between floors , we have been quoted 1k for it under the upstairs master room, just wondering whether we should do the rest rooms as well We have not lived in a double story before, so , not sure how bad the sound insulation between floors will be if without any extra prevention methods. Since the insulation can not been done later on, That is also why we want to get some ideas here especially from ppl live in double story Many thanks Re: Porter Davis homes 9003Jan 27, 2014 1:36 pm If they are allowing it bw floors we would have gone for it. Our kids rooms are above our open plan lounge and living area. You do hear thumping when they are walking around. Would just help reduce noise. Re the powder room, think it would help with a little more privacy when people using the toilet. Though double storeys are so grand that issue was a major drawback for me Re: Porter Davis homes 9005Jan 27, 2014 6:59 pm
I highly recommend it, we are staying with family atm (while our home is built) who have a townhouse and you can hear every footstep and creak with no insulation. We have been told that if it doesn't title when stated we will have to pay $1000 a month until it does and they have a 24 month sunset clause which we are a bit worried about. PD have assured us that this has never happened and is very unlikely. Has anyone else come across this? Thanks Re: Porter Davis homes 9008Jan 28, 2014 3:56 pm ugh again i cant figure out how to add a pic, so i've just posted our blog instead to show the rustic nougat bolera flooring. Btw, do u choose "off white" motar? Thx Re: Porter Davis homes 9012Jan 29, 2014 10:33 am Hi Guys We plan to have a double hinge door @ the back of garage as well as a internal garage door May I check whether the door open direction seems reasonable? Or , they need be opened in another direction (if so, any reason for that?) Its not perfect, but it is much better. from teh street its hard to notice the difference. Up close you still can, but ugh once we do a garden you wont notice it. Btw, do u choose "off white" motar? Thx
Re: Porter Davis homes 9015Jan 29, 2014 3:20 pm suzybuzy suzybuzy Hi Suzy Saw ur blog, did u fix ur motar issue with PD yet? also we used the natural mortar, not that it looks it I am a bit confused , I know "offwhite" is a upgrade mortar , which give you a definite colour. On the other hand, "Standard" mortar could be whatever color it turns out depends on the sand used on site that day - so, red/blue/grey and who knows.............. And "natural" color is somewhere between "offwhite" and "standard" ? confused ................. Re: Porter Davis homes 9017Jan 30, 2014 11:45 am So, the journey finally begins for us. Got a call from our BC to introduce herself, and made appointments for Tender and Tiles so far in the next few weeks... Enquired about drawings before our tender, and we were told that the tile appointment (our first one) will have the drawings, and that we will have the opportunity to review and make changes ahead of tender (second appointment). From everything I've read so far, I'm expecting the tender appointment to be a long and (possibly) painful one!! Now waiting on the electrical and Hopetoun appointments... -Albert Re: Porter Davis homes 9018Jan 30, 2014 12:55 pm Backpocket - Adj - houses almost finished???
