Land is looking good. Aug is only just around the corner! Thanks MummaDJ. That was a bummer but still getting what we want for flooring. So that's a good part of it. We will have to recheck development plans, as it seems like today that we will have street on the back of our block too. Hopefully all goes well as per plan, will have our block settled sometime in September. How's your build going? Shouldn't have any impact of rain now? Re: Porter Davis homes 7685Jul 22, 2013 1:58 pm Can anyone clarify if they have had or will have bathroom niches on walls that are external walls? In both of our bathrooms, one wall is internal, the other wall is external. On our plans, PD put the niches on the internal walls and the shower heads on the external walls which meant when you turned the shower on the water would be coming out the door (i.e. towards you!!!). We were told that PD does not do niches on external walls. So we scrapped our niches (really disappointed!) and moved the plumbing back to the internal wall so the water would not come out the shower door. But I've just read this on the PD blog: "Bathroom niches on external walls are available but there are some instances when these can’t be done such as when there is a metre box is within 600mm of the planned niche as we can’t have water near the metre box for safety reasons." And I've just done a search on the forums and found a couple of people that have had niches on the external walls. Helen - can you please clarify this for me? There is so much conflicting information! There is so much conflicting information! Thanks Hey Ftd, We have our niche in our ensure in the external wall and didn't have a problem at all. Our plumbing will be on the internal wall, shower is about 2 meters wide so I can reach in from the door, I moved the tap wear to be in front of the door with the shower head off to the far right. So no getting wet/cold while waiting for the water to warm up. Keep pushing as you are the one who has to live with it for ever Re: Porter Davis homes 7687Jul 22, 2013 2:42 pm Sambogirl81 ftdt7882 Can anyone clarify if they have had or will have bathroom niches on walls that are external walls? I don't see why we can't have niches on the external walls. Meter Box is well over 600mm away from the ensuite and the bathroom. Off to email my BC.... not a happy camper right now. How many more weeks from now? With standard build garage internal walls will be plastered or just bricks? Checked your blog, looking great. Once it's on locked up stage, can you still go inside or not? Re: Porter Davis homes 7692Jul 22, 2013 8:33 pm Today we signed our final construction drawings!! YAY! The slab will be poured in two weeks... (weather permitting) Ftd - we were told the same thing - cant have on external walls... We were told that was due to being upstairs... Are you building single or double? I were able to build a small one tho under the shower head attachment. Did they give you that option? Re: Porter Davis homes 7693Jul 22, 2013 8:34 pm mummadj - your house looks amazing.. I cant wait to get to that point!! Once it's on locked up stage, can you still go inside or not? As we are doing Hebel, the internal walls of garage are plastered. One thing I hadn't realised was that between the house and the garage, there is no Hebel, just plaster walls. I had it in my head that this was Hebel. It is at lock up now and it is locked up and can't get in. So I can make appointments with SS to go through or go and visit tradies during the day. Perhaps a plate of scones or chocolate brownies will gain me access to the house!!! Apparently around 8 weeks left!!!!! Fingers crossed! AJD - it won't take too long. I can't believe how far along we are and it felt like just not long ago that we started! Slab pour in 2 weeks - yippee - for us that was start of May, so only 10 weeks ago! Re: Porter Davis homes 7695Jul 22, 2013 8:38 pm Wow, really... Does that make your site build around 18 weeks? or did I do my maths wrong? lol How long did they say it would take? They told us (double also) that it would be 30 weeks plus 3 week Christmas contingency... Re: Porter Davis homes 7696Jul 22, 2013 8:50 pm ajd78 Wow, really... Does that make your site build around 18 weeks? or did I do my maths wrong? lol How long did they say it would take? They told us (double also) that it would be 30 weeks plus 3 week Christmas contingency... We are contracted to 308 days (make that 44 weeks) - yep you heard me right! We are in zone 4 so a 2 storey house standard is 280 days plus 28 days for Christmas. If I have mucked up my maths, totally build time may be 22 weeks if all goes smoothly. Love my SS! I am guessing he is on some incentive program???? Re: Porter Davis homes 7697Jul 22, 2013 8:52 pm ajd78 Today we signed our final construction drawings!! YAY! The slab will be poured in two weeks... We are building a single story and we were also told the niche and shower head couldn't go on the same wall! Re: Porter Davis homes 7698Jul 22, 2013 10:07 pm ftfd - you are right.. I had not noticed that before We were told that they were on the same wall but now that I have looked at drawings, they are not and we have what you described with the tap coming off the external wall... It doesn't matter with our shower because we made it bigger, but I can understand it being a problem if smaller... mummadj - that is still amazingly quick! I think they want the money (not that we should complain). They have brought our site start up 4-6wks earlier than expected also.. glad we were ready... Re: Porter Davis homes 7700Jul 22, 2013 10:12 pm oooh, I just checked our contract and it says 238 days including Christmas... hopefully it might be earlier then if they are speedy and the weather stays clear!!! yay!!
