What an awesome way to top off an already beautiful house... Porter Davis homes 5042Apr 12, 2012 7:33 am Hi guys, We have our PCI today and settlement next week. Can anyone help me with a few questions? 1. Who do I call to have the power transferred into my name? Do I need to get PD's suppliers name and then just call them? 2. Same question as above but with gas and water? 3. How do I arrange the Internet connection? I didn't specifically ask for the phone line to be connected so does that mean that the phone company will need to dig a trench to connect it? Thanks so much in advance, I would be lost without all of you Sent from my iPhone so please excuse my spelling mist cakes Building the Drysdale 30 Wallara Waters, Wallan My Blog : http://www.ourwallanhome.blogspot.com My thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=50975 Re: Porter Davis homes 5043Apr 12, 2012 7:51 am CCC - Call whichever power company you want to go with. It is usually set up with Origin to start with?? but then you just tell whoever you want what you want Same with gas and water Dont forget to order your bins from council You need to call Telstra to arrange connection - it's $300 and can take 2 weeks. Or in our case could be months because they came to do it and the cables are up the street - great news when I run my business online!! Excited for us both. Re: Porter Davis homes 5044Apr 12, 2012 8:33 am 1. PD will give the supplier your details and they (the supplier will give you a call to transfer the account over into your name) - you can then transfer over to another retailer if you wish.. 2. Same for water (although no choice there with providers) but I'm surprised that the gas isn't already in your name as it was for our build. 3. This is where the fun will begin - I presume Telstra has sorted out pit-and-pipe infrastructure and maybe the cabling for your stage, but I doubt you'll be getting NBN at the moment like stages 6 and 7 unless Australand is doing somthing about getting earlier stages hooked up as well. If that is not the case then it'll be ADSL for you guys if it is anything. The problem there is that part of Wallan is serviced by RIM's and WW may also be serviced by a RIM - right now there doesn't seem to be any ports free on any of the nearby ones and I'm not sure if there'll be any ports free on the main exchange - this may mean that you'll be working off wireless for a while. Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Porter Davis homes 5045Apr 12, 2012 9:17 am Thanks guys! That's a huge help The idea of depending on wireless is awful! I better call Telstra straight away... There are problems but they are working on it, that's what we wanted to hear, just a update, everything else seems to be sorted out Porter Davis homes 5047Apr 12, 2012 9:49 am tlblhayward Can you please tell us how much your shutters cost (for both areas)? What an awesome way to top off an already beautiful house... Thanks heaps we are happy with how the house looks. For 5 shutters we paid $1700. We opted for the void shutters to flush with the wall so we could have the ledge to put feature vase / art and downlights above. They framed it in perfectly. Very happy with it Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Inside study room it's flushed to the wall Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Porter Davis homes 5048Apr 12, 2012 11:33 am Very Nice Serenitynow. Hopefully it won't be long before we get into our house and as you know we are also looking for plantations for a few rooms. I'll catch up with you for "ALL" the details as we get closer to moving in. Re: Porter Davis homes 5049Apr 12, 2012 12:31 pm Just had PCI tentatively booked for the 24th and handover tentatively booked for 27th of April! Quick question - At what stage to fly screens usually get put on the windows? We didn't specifically ask for fly screens, but they were put on our plans (lumped in when we added window locks) we didn't even realize until a friend saw it on our plans and commented on it! So just trying to suss out whether we were getting them through PD or not. I've just done a bit more digging and it appears that there may be some ports available after all: http://telstrawholesale.com.au/download ... slex03.xls They aren't showing up on adsl2exchanges.com.au though: http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewex ... 35a50f019# You'll just have to wait until you get your phone connected catty before you can see if any ports are available.
