Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 3282Sep 27, 2011 5:10 pm Hi Wateman, I would definitely take it further. We were told numerous times that we are entitled to make changes via Hopetoun within 48hrs and after that through your BC. We are building in Officer, right near you and I've actually just emailed our BC yesterday to ask if I could change our splashback colour to half strength and she replied today, 'no problem' and we've signed our contract! We did have a few issues early on which I was very stressed about and like you ready to just give up, but since meeting her at contract she has been fantastic. Hang in there it will get better. mimi Re: Porter Davis homes 3283Sep 27, 2011 6:53 pm My electrical consultant is making the changes for me. She also said my BC has stated no more changes can be made. She didn't admit they had made a mistake with the plans at all but I wasn't going to argue. My SS and the finished product are going to have to be damn good for me to recommend PD to anybody. The moment was handed from my SC to the BC it's like working with some completely different horrible company. Re: Porter Davis homes 3284Sep 27, 2011 8:14 pm Wateman OK - this may be the straw that broke the camels back, but before I crack it and kick this whole company to the curb, I wanted to see if what I'm being told is correct. I have 2 questions - When you have your colour and electrical appointment, I was told if you have any changes within 48 hours to contact Hopetoun direct, but after that you need to go through your BC. My question is, are you allowed to make any changes after the 48 hours from your original appointment? My BC Just emailed me saying 'we cannot accept any changes after the 48 hour time frame' Now even if the above is true, and I seriously doubt that it is, I just received an updated copy of my electrical plans on Friday(my appointment was on 2nd September, and a change was made with hopetoun within 48 hours, however I never saw this change on a plan until Friday 23rd). There was a minor mistake on the plan, so I emailed by BC to fix the error, and also asked to upgrade my data plan and add a couple more points. Her reply suprized me. Now is she wrong? Or is she telling the truth, and I'm over-reacting to this? I don't think I have the energy to complain to them again, I'd rather throw in the towel and cancel the whole lot, I'm sick of everything being a battle. you can make any amount of changes until you have signed your tender document (structural changes will be difficult after this stage) and your contract. Even when you sign your contract you can make changes before the cooling period. We made minor alterations even after the contract was signed. Re: Porter Davis homes 3285Sep 27, 2011 8:21 pm You can even make structural changes.....you just have to pay for it! Remember that you can walk away at any point before the contract is signed and only have to pay costs incurred. Whilst I wouldn't go out of my way to make their life difficult, you've got to live with the house a lot longer than than the incovenience caused by the BC having to change a couple of things. Maybe it's time to take your concerns higher. As for us, we had tender today which was pretty smooth....full rundown in my thread. Colours, tiles and electrical on 14th of October, better get cracking with some decisions! Porter Davis homes 3286Sep 27, 2011 9:59 pm Thanks guys it's good to know I was right about making changes. As one of you said to me, I do feel like it's a case of my BC not wanting changes as it means more work for her. I would love to know if she's like this with her other clients as she has really been terrible from day one. I really don't feel like I've been asking too much, I have had a few questions, and made a few small changes but everything has felt too hard. Do u all use the 24seven portal? Is it kept up to date as far as selection document and things? Mine is missing my tile selections and the electrical ones have never been updated, which is why I didn't know they had changed anything after my appt 3 weeks ago. My BC said this is normal and it's having problems but I don't think I can trust her anymore. She also said that as the reason she never gave me log in details for this until I asked for them. Hi Waterman, I have been reading this forum for a while now and I can tell you that there are always issues with that portal. If you search through this thread you will find countless comments in regards to the portal being down or out of date. I actually have not heard from my BC at all - i just had a message on my phone yesterday from my new SS! I actually sent an email to her yesterday about a few other concerns I have but still have heard nothing - she is usually really good! So far no one is being very helpful with dates at all which is really hard as i am doing my own floors and need to give them an absolute minimum 4 weeks notice to install them. Hi Audreyand Oscar, I’m glad to hear your new SS has been in contact with you. I’d like to help and follow up with you BC about the concerns you email her about, are you able to please send me a private message with your full name, lot number, address, your BC’s name and the best number we can reach you on. BC rang me yesterday and sorted everything out! I'm still a very happy camper! Re: Porter Davis homes 3291Sep 29, 2011 11:30 am Thought I should post some good news rather than always being a whinge! Yesterday I had the mistake on my electrical plans fixed, and the change I requested made. I also found out that they FINALLY got my soil report back after not being able to gain access to our land(stupid developers!). So no more delays, engineering is being drawn up, contract underway and signing is on the 11th Oct! We may actually be getting somewhere! With their Smart Wiring packs for FTTH estates PD offer four and eight packs in the OpenNetworks, Telstra or Opticomm packs. I know you can also add more points to these packs at an extra charge. What I am hoping somebody might know, is if there is a difference in the enclosures/system that they use depending on whether you pick a four or eight pack? Is it a larger enclosure? I can get away with only getting the 4-pack and getting one extra data and TV point, but I want to be able to add more later on if I ever need to, and I want to make sure I will be able to do that easily with their system. They say you can only have a max of 8 data points in the 4-pack and 16 in the 8-pack, so I get the feeling one is bigger than the other, but I don't want to pay for an 8-pack (which is an extra $1,200) if there is no point. Argus would be the perfect ones to answer this question but I've been trying for 2-weeks now and have had no luck. Anybody know what I'm talking about lol¿ Re: Porter Davis homes 3297Sep 29, 2011 6:57 pm mak_ i hope for your sake, site cost's come within budget mine were $20,000 over what they estimated I wasn't going to budge and accept the $20,000 Hi mak, That is disappointing for you, is there a slope to your block or lots of fill? You say you weren't going to budge, so have PD reviewed the costs for you, or what have you decided your going to do? mimi Re: Porter Davis homes 3299Sep 30, 2011 10:37 am mimi23 mak_ i hope for your sake, site cost's come within budget mine were $20,000 over what they estimated I wasn't going to budge and accept the $20,000 Hi mak, That is disappointing for you, is there a slope to your block or lots of fill? You say you weren't going to budge, so have PD reviewed the costs for you, or what have you decided your going to do? mimi Hey Mimi - The promo was "Site Costs Inc" inc with the Complete back in 2010 for $1,999. and at the initial $1,000 deposit the sale consultant never mentioned that there would be any further cost's. To get to a "pre" tender for them to explain that is "Won't be anymore then $16,000" promo is for only 500mm of fall and we have 1.2m - so nothing too massive. At our proper Tender they got the final cost in at $35,000 for really only 720mm of fall I have looked elsewhere and is actually better for us to change - we are still in limbo . We have a few weeks until contract. Staying with PD we are waaayyy over budget and with a Wedding to pay for as well we financially cannot do it. Re: Porter Davis homes 3300Sep 30, 2011 10:45 am In our promo we had the first 10k, we were presented with a bill for a extra 6k. We had a flat block (13cm fall) and we were on a PD H&L package.. it was a nice debate in the end, but meh. You learn to suck it up. We dropped the aircon to get it under budget. Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12344 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74715 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
