Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 1561Apr 11, 2011 4:33 pm to cover the gap PD use a strip of colourbond aluminum to match the window frame. I am assuming you are referring to the external window frame and the brickwork/lintel. Would have looked ok, except they have used different sized strips all around the house. Some consistency would have been nice. Instead it looked like they raided the spare parts bin and all over the place. Seems tradies dont know the first thing about aesthetics For us, we have had security screens installed which cover it all and looks a lot more fitted now. I will try to up load some pics tonight of the gaps and their fixes (before security screens) Re: Porter Davis homes 1562Apr 11, 2011 4:46 pm tstr1a https://picasaweb.google.com/115772729734918720867/Waldorf44PorterDavisPrestige?authkey=Gv1sRgCM-LwMCmyre7WA#5594197276337498434 Guys, I went past a site (another builder---- NOT PD) and check out the gap between the frame and the window. The window was held together by the edge of the nail. Also, I don't think silicon can fill this gap! May I add that external brick work was finished as well. The gap is huge and there was a common theme around the house. Also filling the gaps with silicon or aluminium strips is not the answer. The windows should be fitted snug to the frame. When the house starts moving in a couple of year I would like to see what happens! Re: Porter Davis homes 1563Apr 11, 2011 6:50 pm I shall get some photos tomorrow guys - have the curtain/blind company coming around to measure so I will have perfect opportunity to take photos. I'm not too concerned as I know that things will be fixed.. they have been brilliant so far with any of the small issues that have arisen. I will be bringing it to our SS attention tomorrow. Re: Porter Davis homes 1564Apr 11, 2011 8:57 pm Bi-Fold Door Frame UPDATE Hi All, Received an email from my CSA this morning followed by an email from my SS later in the day confirming that the lower part of the frame will be removed and a replacement fitted next week !!! Very impressed with the prompt responses from PD, and if any future issues are resolved in a similar way, I will be a happy client. Fingers crossed... Re: Porter Davis homes 1573Apr 13, 2011 10:42 am lastone Just organising for our appointment at Hopetoun. It's booked for 10am, do I need to allow the whole day for it? I need to book a train ticket to get home Guess it depends on how organised you are... are you doing the Tiles on same day? If you can it would be ideal, and then yes, allow whole day Re: Porter Davis homes 1574Apr 13, 2011 11:51 am Hi lastone, Snoofie is quite right, it's best to allocate as much time as possible to your Hopetoun appointment in order to get a complete feel for your home design & time to talk through your selections with the Hopetoun staff. If you're keen to save time due to your travel needs, then Snoofie made a good suggestion to try and organise your tile appointment on the same day. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time for each appointment, and remember, you can book another appointment at Hopetoun if you require more time to think through your selections. I hope it all goes well for you, keep us updated with how you go. Cheers, Jess Porter Davis Homes Questions? Hi fingers crossed, To help answer your question, final invoice is sent to the client once all inspections are first booked. This gives you approx 3-4 weeks to get everything off to the bank whilst inspections and any further works on site are completed all in time for settlement. I also recommend asking your CSA when you'll receive your final invoice as they'll be able to give you a more accurate timeframe closer to the date. I hope that helps. Cheers, Jess. Credit where credit is due... as I mentioned had a meeting with SS and CM onsite... CM was appauled at the quality of the windows - he got straight on the phone to the Mgr of the Window company to get them fixed and or replaced. It is indeed poor quality... another issue and more common is the glazing wedge being too tight, you can see a radius on the corner in your shot. This only gets worse over a short time in the weather, and then you get a hole in the corner that you can see light through, and it lets the air and water through too... My CSC told that it will be through Origin energy. Have any of you requested to change the provider? Thanks.... Yes you can. Just organize your own providers before you move and let your CSC know so they can disconnect the services before you move in. Otherwise they can transfer it straight into your own name.
