Thoughts? http://bendigowaldorf.blogspot.com/2014 ... risis.html I built a Sandarah 45 and I had a Daikin FDYQ200LV1 installed. I had 4 zones installed (basically 2 zones each floor) and the advice was that the unit was not designed to cool the entire house which is fair enough. When I turn the unit on full blast, the throughput is fantastic, it works fantastic.....but....the outdoor unit is massive and is also quite noisy. The outdoor unit is ~200kg and in cooling mode mine is currently making a loud buzzing noise. I'm having Daikin come by to check on it to see if its normal...hopefully its not as I'm pretty sure my neighbors will not be impressed otherwise Re: Porter Davis homes 9183Feb 22, 2014 9:33 pm [quote="Serenity_Now"]I built a Sandarah 45 and I had a Daikin FDYQ200LV1 installed. How much did PD charge you for the unit and installation? Would you suggest that I install 2 units... one for ground floor and another for upstairs? How much did PD charge you for the unit and installation? Would you suggest that I install 2 units... one for ground floor and another for upstairs? We paid ~$17000 for the unit and installation and compared to if we had done it post handover, it was approximately a $3000 premium. However, bear in mind that these Daikin systems have two units - one is the condensor unit that sits outside and the second unit is a fan unit that sits in the roof cavity. Installing a outdoor unit post handover is very straightforward, its the internal unit that will give you headaches. Because it is almost guaranteed that you will NOT be able to fit that unit through the manhole! Which means you will have to cut through your nice new plaster to fit it in. Alternatively, they'll have to set up a crane outside to winch it in through your roof tiles and if you have roof sarking then that's going to add another layer of complication. PD won't allow you to have your own installer install the internal unit during the build so you can't fit it in easily either whilst your house is in the framing stage With regards to whether you should have two AC systems.....I think you may struggle in terms of roof cavity space. The internal unit needs to sit generally where the highest point is in the roof cavity. Logically, you'd think there's plenty of space but by the time the pre-assembled roof trusses all go in, you'd be surprised how little space you actually have to work with! The ducting also takes up a considerable amount of space and with two units you would need more ducts AND also you'd need to figure out where you would put a second return point (each unit would need its own return air). Based on my experience with the 20kw unit, yes, it's not going to be able to cool the entire house effectively, but I guess you have to ask yourself as well, would you want/need to? Re: Porter Davis homes 9185Feb 23, 2014 2:34 pm Hey... has anyone got an idea for the cost of frameless shower screens? Re: Porter Davis homes 9186Feb 23, 2014 7:43 pm tlblhayward Hey... has anyone got an idea for the cost of frameless shower screens? Hi tlbl, I had it quoted in my third last version of the tender - got rid of them though, other things I want more. To upgrade to the same as in the display at Williams Landing (8mm thick frameless shower screen in lieu of standard) it was $2,821 for the master - and $7,506 for three ensuites in beds 2, 3 and 4 (even though we only have two ensuites in the minor bedrooms) so would be $2,502 per minor ensuite. sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Re: Porter Davis homes 9187Feb 24, 2014 8:27 pm That is just insane, I think I rather just do it after handover. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Frameless-Sh ... 1404356100 ??? Re: Porter Davis homes 9188Feb 24, 2014 8:48 pm Hi all, Hope everyone is well. Claire - how have you been? How is your build going? BP - how is your build going now? Ingle wood - have you had PCI? How are the other builds going? We were suppose to have PCI with our inspector tomorrow but it's been postponed - prob for a week or so. We are getting close to the end date now. If it's not finished in a few weeks pd will start paying us!! Bonus?! Hopefully it won't get to that!! Re: Porter Davis homes 9189Feb 24, 2014 8:57 pm Hey ajd, sorry to hear it has been postponed. Looks like our painters were there today so some movement at least. Just waiting to hear if we have the wrong toilets. Cant get into check but the boxes in the rubbish are wrong. Hopefully this does not hold us up, we got onto our SS straight away. Just a few things letting PD down at the moment. Fingers crossed it all comes right in the end! Good luck with it, are you waiting on anything major? Also when you choose a colour for the front door, is it painted that colour on both sides? Or just the front? Anyone who has had handover or near PCI know? In the current house our front door is stained both sides. In the new house it looks like they have painted the inside of the front door white to match the other doors? Re: Porter Davis homes 9190Feb 24, 2014 9:28 pm That doesn't sound right BP. We paid for staining and they have stained both side. They have no idea tho and I think communication is a major fault of pd. It's a bit disappointing. I think we paid $198 for the staining. Then another $99 for the door. It is definitely both sides. I have no idea what we are waiting for inside - splash backs a definite and then there is the facade which is wrong. It's just lots of little things. Frustrating really. Re: Porter Davis homes 9191Feb 24, 2014 10:41 pm Back Pocket Hey ajd, sorry to hear it has been postponed. Wow CL that is amazing! They must have been at it like beavers the past few weeks. Seems like it was only a couple of weeks ago, you were waiting for the site cut. Have they fixed the doors and cabinets yet? Are you happy with how it is coming together? Keep any eye on the toilet and remind your SS that you have a special order with the toilet. Looks like they just put four wrong toilets in our place. What a waste! Re: Porter Davis homes 9193Feb 24, 2014 10:54 pm Wow CL that is amazing! What a waste! Doors are fixed, waiting for the doors and draws to arrive from Clayton's. It is looking beautiful now as it takes shape, I am really happy with it all, thanks for the tip about the toilets I will remind my SS next time we chat Re: Porter Davis homes 9194Feb 25, 2014 5:06 am Back Pocket Also when you choose a colour for the front door, is it painted that colour on both sides? At my colours appointment, I am pretty sure staining was both sides but if you paint it, it is only on the outside and the inside matches the rest of house. Blog: http://prestigebuild.blogspot.com.au Re: Porter Davis homes 9195Feb 25, 2014 6:48 am Ours is going well. PCI in one week. Our SS has been fabulous. Can't see too much that needs fixing - apart from plaster that the electricians wrecked when they were putting in downlights and switches - several are going to need the plasterers to come back and fix it up. All the other tradies have been so meticulous and you can tell they take pride in their work, but obviously not the electricians. Hoping that those things will be fixed before PCI. Taps and basins are in, waiting on shower screens and splash back now. House was all locked up on the weekend so we couldn't get in to see those things in the bathroom and ensuite. Good to hear that others are nearing the end too! Exciting times Re: Porter Davis homes 9196Feb 25, 2014 7:01 am hi guys i'm deciding on the aircon situation, whether to upgrade the heater and get the add on later or do it in one hit. does anyone know the cost to upgrade the heater + ducting, or is it just better to get the evap aircon Re: Porter Davis homes 9197Feb 25, 2014 12:59 pm Back Pocket Hey ajd, sorry to hear it has been postponed. Re: Porter Davis homes 9198Feb 25, 2014 8:47 pm Did anyone have their curtains and blinds measured by a third party before handover? We're thinking of having the curtain measurements done during one of the inspections. Also did anyone manage to get heating points into the downstairs ensuite and laundry (to dry clothes in winter)? We have our contact appointment in a couple of days. Re: Porter Davis homes 9199Feb 25, 2014 9:04 pm MummaDJ Back Pocket Hey ajd, sorry to hear it has been postponed. Hi BP - our front door we chose a red painted door - the outside is red and the inside is white to match the frames and skirtings. Thanks mummaDJ. Ours is white enamel on the inside by the looks of it but some sort of flat "leather look" type of paint on the outside. The colour is right a gorgeous deep amethyst but really flat and dull. Not at all the gloss I was expecting. Is your front door gloss? When I checked the colour selections in paint type it says "painted" where the others say things like EF Gloss. A bit disappointed but will check with the SS when we can. Re: Porter Davis homes 9200Feb 25, 2014 9:06 pm bramsy Did anyone have their curtains and blinds measured by a third party before handover? We have our contact appointment in a couple of days. Our SS said we could organise this with him but we decided against it because our flooring is going in after handover. We are building the hoffman39 and you can get heating into the store room off the laundry to turn it into a drying room. It's in the display at Aston I think.
