I initially selected translucent glazing for the front door panels & prior to the contract appointment I changed it to Obscure. This is mentioned in the contract but at the moment I need to verify whether currently PD had placed Obscure glazing for the door, coz for me it looks like translucent. Unfortunately, I have not captured any pictures of these glazing & if you have any could you please share it. The back of the door sits flush against the frame but the front of the door there is a gap of around 5-10mm away from the frame. My SS is saying that this is normal, however I dont agree. It appears that the door isnt as thick as its suppose to be or either the frame is too big. I have been told that a lot of houses have this. Has anyone else have the same experience? Thanks! 1. 2-3 weeks enough for soil test and re-design the slab 3. 20 weeks for base price only and need to add owner variation, weather and contractor holidays etc... If you upgrade a door handle then your no longer building the standard house. To give you and idea, our guaranteed 20 week (140 days) turned out to be 206 days. Its more a marketing gimic to get you signed up and then changes when you go to tender this also applies with the 5 star (now 6 star?) rating, once you have added an extra window, put in a few downlights, raised the ceiling height or anything else then you are no longer building the standard house and you will be charged for any upgraded insulation that you might need Re: Porter Davis homes 1187Feb 22, 2011 3:41 pm Is it worthwhile to get a independent inspection at the base stage? ie. before the slab is poured. I've heard that its important for the foundations to be right so that there's no major problems later. However, my SS tells me that there will be an inspection by the guys who issued the building permit anyway and suggests its not necessary. BACV made it clear that the number of days stated in Schedule 1 of the HIA contract is all the time they are allowed unless they ask for consent and you give it. I think thats the correct schedule number, its mentioned somewhere else in this thread too. Next week is our PCI. I hope all goes well. Biggest problem at the moment is when any toilet is flushed the sewage pipe in front of the house overflows and creates a mighty stink. That has to be fixed before we even consider moving in. The rest are mostly cosmetic. Hmmmmm...... Our house was 5 star rated but we still added R2.0 batts to external wall for $1,102. Toilets were stinking for months.....be patient, maybe they will fix it properly....one day. You will probably do what we have done, 16 December we have accepted the house (KEY!!!) with boiler, oven, and hod not installed otherwise we would have spent Christmas on the street....They know people wants to have the keys and do not have other place to go (rented property to leave)....so they are going to finish everthing last minute and quickly which is resulting in really bad quality work. They had to come 3 months later to level the boiler. Really difficult to do the work properly! As soon as you change the ceiling height, or a window to a door, it's no longer standard and the cost is passed on to you. The insulation they wrap your house in is apparently rated at .5 so we should have a total of 2.5 to external walls. I hope........ Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 13619 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 77572 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
