Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 7861Aug 15, 2013 10:59 am +1 for Houspect. I've used them at every stage and they've spotted plenty of issues. Plus their guys are great at helping you understand the process. I've used them for every stage so far, with practical completion coming up. I would not even consider doing PCI without them. Re: Porter Davis homes 7862Aug 15, 2013 8:15 pm mindabinda A big -1 for my BC. They have been reprimanded by senior management for multiple wrong doings with us yet still waiting for costs on something a week later. I have been given all the excuses under the sun over the past few months- our email didn't work for two weeks (so my 4 emails and 3 phone calls didn't make it through), all my phone numbers were engaged when I asked for a phone call (impossible since my work, home and mobile are all through to voice mail), and total non responses to requests. I'm with Back Pocket on this - I don't care how many houses they have to look after. I'm spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for them to do a job and I expect them to provide reasonable customer service. Hi mindabinda, The lack of communication you have outlined above is concerning and needs to be rectified. I have raised your issues with the regional business manager. Someone from PD will be in touch with you ASAP. Regards, Helen Porter Davis Homes Questions? I see that a few of you have been chatting about our partner, Birk, being more expensive than other suppliers you have found. Where you choose to purchase your window coverings is 100% your choice, but I just wanted to make sure that you were comparing “apples with apples” when it comes to suppliers. Birk provides a full interior design service with all consultants being qualified interior designers specialising in window coverings. They will consider your colour selections/furnishings and then advise you on the best option for your new house within your budget. Birk also has a solid reputation for producing high quality products at a good price point. It’s been one of Birk’s underlying philosophies since they started business three decades ago. If you are comparing Birk with an online supplier, there are a few things that need to be considered:- • You will not have the benefit of advice to coordinate the window coverings with the rest of your furnishings and colour selections • You will need to measure yourself • You may not be able to take final measurements until after you have the keys (leaving you with no privacy when moving in) • You will need to fill in an online order form and ensure its accuracy • Product and colour options are limited • Upfront payment is normally required before manufacturing commences • Usually requires DIY installation (Child safety devices are required by law and Birk provides these on every job they install) • Limited warranty often applies If you want to know a bit more about comparing window covering suppliers, please read http://blog.porterdavis.com.au/index.ph ... -expenses/. I totally understand that window furnishings are an additional expense to what is already the biggest purchase you will make in your lifetime, but I just wanted to outline the reasons for the pricing variations. I hope this helps - best of luck with your research! Cheers, Helen Porter Davis Homes Questions? Yes they are expensive but the quality is fantastic, the gentleman at the Keilor office was lovely. Just the ease of moving in and having blinds really takes some of the stress out. Oh not the be that house with sheets in the windows! Oh not the be that house with sheets in the windows! Whoops sorry port Melbourne office Re: Porter Davis homes 7866Aug 16, 2013 9:24 am Team PD hocm Thanks for the response guys. No good service to report of here unfortunately. We got called a week ago saying your appointment will be in a weeks time. There are no other time slots. Want another one? It will be a month away. BC was lacking in information and mentioned that more information will come through in the post. When I raised up the point that we have only a week for “more” information via the post to arrive, I was assured that they use express mail which takes a day to arrive hence information will be with me tomorrow. This was a week ago. Our tender appointment is now tomorrow and we have no information except for chicken scratchings I did while on the phone a week ago. Brilliant… Hi hocm, Could you please PM me with your proposed build and contact details and I will ensure that the relevant managers are made aware of this situation prior to your tender appt tomorrow? Regards, Helen Hi Helen, one of the managers popped in to have a chat during our appointment and addressed our concerns. Its good to see from my point of view that customer complaints are taken seriously and acknowledged. Cheers. Re: Porter Davis homes 7867Aug 17, 2013 7:25 pm Attn: Helen - or someone who might know... We have just been advised by our next door neighbours that the temporary fence (between the properties) has prevented them from opening their garage door fully.. They have managed to squeeze their car out and it is now parked in their driveway... But they are concerned that the fence will fall over onto the car with these high winds.. Is there an emergency number to contact after hours? Thanks Re: Porter Davis homes 7868Aug 17, 2013 7:42 pm Can they put their car on the street? Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Porter Davis homes 7870Aug 17, 2013 8:19 pm Thanks, we are not in a position where we can go there tonight (and yes, I would move my car onto the street also)... I have just sent a text message to the site supervisor - which I hated doing But I'm not really sure what the protocol is for something like this... Plus they drive an expensive car so I assume PD would not be happy if it happened... Re: Porter Davis homes 7871Aug 17, 2013 9:54 pm I went to PD national tiles today and one of the porcelain tiles we liked were quoted at approx 125 dollars each. We then went to just the national tiles next doors and they were on sale for 59 dollars each. Is the major price difference due to labour? I am feeling a bit ripped off.... Re: Porter Davis homes 7872Aug 17, 2013 10:15 pm ajd78 Thanks, we are not in a position where we can go there tonight (and yes, I would move my car onto the street also)... Hi ajd78, I've sent a message to the building manager but his first port of call will be the SS, who you have already contacted . Am hoping your neighbours can park on the street for this evening until we can get this sorted. Really sorry for the inconvenience to both you and your neighbours. Someone will be in touch ASAP to have the temp fencing issue rectified. Regards, Helen Porter Davis Homes Questions? I don't know if he is expensive or not but that is what he said... So maybe not so unrealistic. Re: Porter Davis homes 7875Aug 21, 2013 8:38 pm Hi All, Its been a bit quite in here... I have to say though our site is the cleanest site I have ever seen. Every bit of rubbish even the mesh off cuts are in the rubbish cage. Re: Porter Davis homes 7878Aug 21, 2013 10:14 pm Clairemumto5 - I must say we have been pretty lucky with weather over here... We have had rain overnight and sunny days.. I believe the weather over your side has been scattered... I think that plays a part for sure. I look forward to seeing pics of yours... I had to introduce myself to the guys today...
