Just curious though, has anyone else building 2 story on here found the 2 day WOS appointment was overkill or you still felt rushed through it? Thanks in advance! Ours was just right, we finished early by an hour on both days but we have been to WOS 4 times before our appointment. @pdsomerville46 Porter Davis homes 15363Sep 02, 2017 6:19 pm Our frame started around 11 days after slab was poured. BC said they usually allow 7-10days for the slab to cure @pdsomerville46 Re: Porter Davis homes 15365Sep 03, 2017 2:05 am Mondeo Hi All, We have just signed our tender and are waiting for our WOS appointment to be booked. Just curious though, has anyone else building 2 story on here found the 2 day WOS appointment was overkill or you still felt rushed through it? Thanks in advance! Our two days felt rushed. Especially the first hour with the interior designer for facade, wall paint, flooring choices. And we knew what we wanted as had been to WOS 6 times before that day. We also didn't get any wardrobe additions or blinds through them. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Porter Davis homes 15366Sep 03, 2017 7:03 am I promise you it's 2 days you'll never get back. It's about 1/2 a day too long. I suggest to go in before your appointment to get an idea of colours ect. Remember their job in WOS as suppliers to PD is to upswell you products at Huge margins. For example we went to national tiles and found a beautiful tile for $39 per Sqm and the upgrade additional cost for exactly the same tile was $90 per sqm Re: Porter Davis homes 15367Sep 03, 2017 8:23 am Naama We went to see the progress and I took some pics of the kitchen in my blog! I am super happy with how it turned out!!!! https://buildingmontague21.blogspot.com.au/ Looks like things are coming along nicely for you Naama, very happy for you! Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis homes 15369Sep 03, 2017 9:27 am We have just had our slab poured they just leave the slab to the elements so hopefully it's raining for a stronger slab. They do the frame about 10 days after pour Re: Porter Davis homes 15371Sep 04, 2017 8:52 am Re: Porter Davis homes 15373Sep 04, 2017 9:02 am Has anyone else on this blog got a reply from Porter Davis with a building schedule as I just can't seem to get one from them I find it ridiculous because I need to order other things for the end of my build and they just won't tell me how long to build going to take Re: Porter Davis homes 15374Sep 04, 2017 9:03 am Hopefully they can go fast enough to get us in by Christmas... if only! Our contract is 196 days so that will take us to 17th March. Which happens to be St. Patrick's day, I'm Irish so maybe it's a sign of good things. Building: Forsyth 35 with Porter Davis Land Titling : April 2017 Site Start: June 2017 Blog: https://forsyth35.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Porter Davis homes 15378Sep 04, 2017 10:48 am I would imagine that PD and the BCs are reluctant to give a timeline for anything because anytime that things don't go according to that timeline customers are going to be unhappy about it. If they give themselves plenty of time then customers will say it should be able to be done quicker, if they don't give themselves enough time then customers will complain, if they give themselves the right amount of time but it rains or they can't get a tradie in then customers will complain. So as frustrating as it is not to have a timeline apart from the generous amount of time they give themselves in the contract, it probably causes less pain for them and customers as they're not being disappointed when timelines aren't met for whatever reasons. Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis homes 15379Sep 04, 2017 11:19 am its just terrible how are you meant to organise other things like driveways fences and blinds. These things take time and they all want an opproximate date they will start. honestly their treating thier customers like 3 year olds Re: Porter Davis homes 15380Sep 04, 2017 11:26 am brucefil2011 its just terrible how are you meant to organise other things like driveways fences and blinds. These things take time and they all want an opproximate date they will start. honestly their treating thier customers like 3 year olds From other posts it seems that as you get closer to the house being finished they become more able to give you a better indication on when handover will be, particularly given that they are presumably doing most/all of their work indoors so weather is much less of a factor. When they are just starting out on the build they have no idea what the weather will be like, what tradie availability will be like etc and so it could be 5 months, it could be 9 or it could be anywhere in between. When they have most of the work done they have a much better idea of those things or it affects the build less and the timeline becomes more precise. I'm doubtful that a concreter or blinds place needs to know 6 months in advance what date your house will be completed, a few weeks or a month in advance is probably fine. Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 13316 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 76944 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
