Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 5355May 17, 2012 9:18 am a+s01 Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a sticky situation regarding Porter Davis. I have fallen in love with the Kallara 33 which is on display at Point Cook. I took my husband through the home over the weekend and he agreed with me that it is what we'd call our 'dream home' however the consultant there was difficult to work with. We asked to get a quotation based on an 'as displayed' price as PD don't really have what I would call a 'list of standard inclusions' like most builders but it was absolutely ridiculous at how much questioning we had to go through to even get the consultant to agree to send us through a quotation. Overly frustrated, my husband and I decided to leave it at that and maybe try another PD display centre that actually wanted our business. For me, I guess customer service and how far the person selling the product is willing to go for the consumer is really a big deal and Mainvue really won me over. Did anybody else have the difficulty myself and my husband had just to simply get a quotation made up? Hi. We are currently building the kallara 33, we too went to point cook but weren't impressed with the service. So we went to the display in Lyndarum (epping) and checked out the kallara 33 there. That day we put a deposit down and the sales guy was pretty good and efficient in terms of quote. PM me if you like if you want details or have any questions. Although we had a couple of issues with our sales consultant (mostly not knowing things she probably should have, and a few things taking longer than they proabably should) I haven't really been in your position. However, we loved the floorplan so much that they had us over a barrell. Nothing else came close, so they probably could have treated us like dirt and we still would have signed eventually . It's such a balancing act between building your 'dream home' with no regrets, but also wanting to have confidence in your builder, isn't it? I agree ... I think most of us think that and so many of us are let down .. For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! I agree ... I think most of us think that and so many of us are let down .. What can I say... Week 14 was lockup invoice (98 days).... my build is now in week 37 (250+ days) and still no PCI date or approximate completion date... 150+days of what? seriously... someone dropped the ball but I'm the one who's left forking out rent and interest each month because of it. Re: Porter Davis homes 5359May 17, 2012 10:55 am J & C Our Admin Final Variation list has the completion days as 190 days (base contract = 161 +variation = 29). The construction letter we received from our BC has 218 day on it. Which one is correct ? Question: how long does it normally take to build a 30 sq single storey house ? Hi J & C, It depends where you are in the process. From deposit to site start date, it usually about 6 weeks - 10 weeks by the time you make all your selections, sign your contracts etc… Then its approximately 20 weeks (on a standard house plan with no changes) from the date construction begins. PD build times are in accordance with the HIA building contract and is guaranteed at 20 weeks for a standard single storey house plan. (FROM WHEN CONSTRUCTION BEGINS?) Please keep in mind that these things that can affect the length of the construction period so when we say 'guarantee' this is based on everything that it is in our control: • public holidays • bad weather • land availability • the complexity, size and inclusions you choose • Whether your land is settled and ready to build on This is our procedure of purchase which may help you, we have one for our Access Range and one for Lifestyle and Prestige ranges - http://www.porterdavis.com.au/#/aboutus I hope this helps. Cheers, Ebony Thanks for this Ebony, the reason I asked this question was because I have two different number of days in the documents we received from PD. Cheers - J & C Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12332 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74701 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
