That's very exciting Cinderella.....remind me again which design you chose?
We are building the Chadwick.
I have been reading the forum like crazy for tips and tricks. We especially want to be prepared for colour appointments (as we haven't got a whole heap of room to move in the budget, and don't want to get carried away and disappointed)
Did you guys visit brick showrooms and National Tiles before your appointment? Or did you just browse Hopetoun prior? We think we will go to Hopetoun on Sunday to have an initial browse.
Nice....I remember checking it out when you told me last time!
Definitely go and have a look at National Tiles as well. It's really well set up with the tiles put in order of expense and they are very friendly. Added bonus is they are just around the corner from Hopetoun.
I did go to the brick company as well and they were very helpful and best bit is they can give you addresses of houses which have used the bricks you're after. It really helps to see it in a large setting. They can email this to you as well though if you don't have time to get there.
If you have any trouble with pricing come in here and ask for specifics because we can probaly help
It seems overwhelming at first with so many decisions to be made but you'll be surprised how definite you are about some things and what you dither about. Things like cornices and architraves took me a while because I didn't care about the style as much as the width which can make it harder. Good decision to give my Hubby.
Remember you can always take things out but harder to change afterwards.
Best of luck

Go to all places for inspiration and shortlisting, and probably multiple times (if you can). Look at Displays, go to the brick showrooms, take lots of notes and take photos. If you get samples, take them with you to help decide.
You'll be amazed how what looks great one day, may not be what you are after, a few days later.
Also - don't try and make everything a feature, or your rooms will look confused, espeically after you furnish and decorate post handover.
Consistency across rooms was something we maintained too (i.e. stone bench types, cabinetry colours / finishes, handles, tapware etc.)
Good luck!
