I'm assuming T you're talking about how the plasterboard absorbs paint? Our last place we had a fabulous painter and they only did a 2 coat I'm sure. It comes down to how well they prep plaster joins etc. Good luck deciding Rups, we keep second guessing things too. My latest is agreeing to door stops around the house, not sure if I want the white ones or whether I should find other ones and get them installed instead. Yeh - that makes sense too... I'll query our SS when we see him this week. See what going to 3 coats will make them commit too in terms of quality / finish, that is over and above the 2 coats. Our blog has been updated too with last weeks progress... Sounds like a good solution. How's the new place!? Feel like home now? Porter Davis homes 4484Feb 05, 2012 9:20 am Definitely feels like home! All in all a fab house but I'm extremely disappointed with PD. I urge everyone to delay handover unless things are perfect. I am still waiting on resolutions and am now due for my 3 month maintenance! Sounds like a good solution anyway. Glad you're enjoying your house Porter Davis homes 4486Feb 05, 2012 6:19 pm I'd do it the same way again, at least this way it's a 30 second job to change them over! I am also taking my time and haven't bothered with the bedrooms yet Re: Porter Davis homes 4488Feb 06, 2012 8:45 am Quick update - got a call from our SS... bricks are being delivered today!! Brickie on-site tomorrow to do prep, then fulltime from Thursday. The wrap on one side of our house got destroyed in the weather yesterday, but he was onto that too and is getting it fixed tomorrow. Now that's a better start to the week Re: Porter Davis homes 4489Feb 06, 2012 9:18 am Sounds great Rups! Cant wait for some brick pictures In regards to the stoppers- we didnt get them thru PD and will be doing them ourselves, sounds like its a fiddly job but something that the other half can do on the weekend.lol We didn't upgrade to 3 coats of paint as we have a 2 yr old and may take a beating and figure we may want a feature wall here or there and we can always repaint in couple of years. Sounds like everyones moving right along! Hubby spoke to Origin and demanded proof that the gas meter was installed because he believed it never arrived. Origin rep tracked down our gas meter and found that was installed at a completely different address and suburb (Point Cook). Well hello, why didn't they check this at the beggining. It has taken numerous phone calls and they even wanted a police report done when they should have just done the check in the first place. SS had a go at Origin because they wanted him to file a police report when all along it was sitting at another address. I don't know what happens now but Origin will try and get one for us tomorrow and probably this means unhooking the one at the Point Cook and delivering it to us. lets hope the gas hasn't been used because we aren't paying for it. In any case SS seems to think something shifty may have gone on possibly with a tradie and he will look into it further as to why it's sitting at the Point Cook address. Hi eli-kay123, I’m so sorry to hear of the difficulties you’ve experienced with your gas metre, I can understand why this would be so frustrating for you. It’s nice to see that your SS has been supportive as well. Good luck with sorting this out and your move on the weekend, be sure to let us know the outcome. Cheers, Ebony Hi Ebony, Our SS had contacted Origin Energy last week to get our gas meter with no luck and now it seems he has washed his hands from this saying to my partner that he has gone over and beyond to help us get our gas meter and to pretty much put up with it. This is unacceptable from PD as Origin Energy has in their system stating it was installed on Jan 3. We took possession of the house on 24th Jan today is 6th Feb and still no gas metre. I and my partner have called Origin on many occasions to try and get this rectified, and also calling Origin this morning, mind you waiting on the phone for over 1 hour before we speak to someone and still no response on when we are getting a gas meter. We are waiting for a call from Origin this afternoon. We have now reached boiling point as we have 4 young kids and 2 adults that need showers and we can't even do this. The kids are crying as the water is too cold so I just sponge them down by boiling the kettle and adding cold water to make it warm. I am in tears at the moment because this not how we predicted our move in would be like. We feel PD has let us down. My partner and I been having cold showers and buying take away food for us and the kids as I can't use my gas stove. It seems like PD have received all their payments and now don't give a damn. It's a major issue and PD needs to rectify this asap as it disrupts our quality of living. SS said after handover if you have any urgent issues that makes life unliveable call us asap and we will fix it straight away, but if it's little things that won't cause any major issues to the quality of living they will fix them at the 3 months maintenance. I have even rang AGL to see if they can get us a gas meter and they can't because the system tells them we already have one assigned to us and installed even though I told them we don't. We can't do jack sh$t because someone in Point Cook has our gas meter. UPDATE on gas meter..... Hubby spoke to SP AUSNET and they are saying they have nothing in their system saying Origin has put an order in for a gas meter to be installed at our address. They are saying that it looks like Origin have mixed up the paper work and installed it to the point cook address but somehow their system is saying it's out our address. I'm now getting confused & further frustrated. SP AUSNET said that we have to contact Origin to put an order thru to SP AUSNET as there was never one raised for our address once this is done we should have a meter in the next 24 - 48 hrs. Somehow I don't see this happening. I have been on hold to Origin for 20 mins so far...... AAARRRG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guys if you don't have a gas meter installed at least 3 weeks before handover, get on top of it and make sure you will be getting one installed on or before handover. I can sympathise with you at how extremely frustrating this is and I’d like to be able to help get this resolved as quickly as possible. Also don’t forget that you are eligible for privilege pricing via the PD Rewards membership at The Blind Factory and Kreative Design. We’ve posted up some tips and ideas for blinds and window covering for each room on blog - http://blog.porterdavis.com.au/index.php/2011-11/mix-and-match-your-blinds-for-style/ Cheers, Ebony Hi Ebony, got a few questions for you regarding PD Rewards as I couldn't find much info on the same.. - What's the procedure for getting PD Rewards discounts ? Do we get a card at handover ? - Can we avail these discounts during construction ? - Is there a list of places where we can avail the benefits of PD Rewards? Thanks in advance.. Hi baronx, Thanks for your questions. We've got a brief overview on the PD site, but happy to fill in the blanks! When you sign your contract, your Building Coordinator will present you with your PD Rewards pack. This pack includes a booklet listing the brands involved and their member offer, plus a memebrship card. A PDF of the PD Rewards booklet is available from the 24seven portal, or you can email pdrewards@porterdavis.com.au for a copy. If you haven't been given any information about PD Rewards you should take this up with your BC. I hope this helps. Cheers, Ebony Porter Davis Homes Questions? They were all items that need to be rectified (not building code std) but none were absolute showstoppers. Report sent to SS and BC for review. In terms of the work heating\cooling rough in done and brickwork continued. Bricks should be finished this week. Should be at lockup early next week. Gren Re: Porter Davis homes 4498Feb 07, 2012 7:51 am Silly iphone.. Exactly JLD plaster will absorb paint better when you repaint. Don’t get me wrong, the painters did an excellent job on our house and everyone that comes over compliments the paint work. Also Rups, if your pay for a three coat system how will you know that the painters actually apply 3 coats? Re: Porter Davis homes 4499Feb 07, 2012 8:18 am That's part of the concern T... There's no 100% guarantee of an outcome, and that's what we're unsure about. Got an on-site with our SS on Thursday morning, I'll quiz him a bit more, then make a decision.
