I think its unfair that they would do this. The only option I can think of other than changing the contract signing date (Which we really dont want to do) is see if we can agree on a fixed site cost. I would be delaying contract signing. I know you may have to arrange another day off work, but what if your site costs come in astronomical? I would not be signing anything without knowing what the costs were. We didn't have a choice but sign the contract first before 2nd soil test is done because ours is a demolition job. The bad thing is once the 2nd soil test was done, our house had been demolished & we had no choice but to go ahead with the build, i.e. to accept whatever result from the 2nd soil test which came up to about $5k extra. __________________________________________ Built Camberwell 29 with PD - Hand Over was on 22/12/10 http://ssazcamberwell29.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 1689May 04, 2011 10:14 am ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks Smokey for your reply. That's the same as us SSAZ. We just over estimated at tender time, however when it came to contract signing we were told we needed to have screw piles so it added on another $20k approx. ![]() Building Waldorf 44 with PD Feel free to follow our build progress - http://melnrobsknockdownrebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 1690May 04, 2011 10:21 am ![]() That's the same as us SSAZ. The 1st soil test came within the budget but the 2nd soil test push it up to be $3k over our budget but was happy with it. I had the CSC to email me a copy of both soil tests & they were really bad. __________________________________________ Built Camberwell 29 with PD - Hand Over was on 22/12/10 http://ssazcamberwell29.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 1691May 04, 2011 10:37 am ![]() ![]() That's the same as us SSAZ. Jess can you confirm? By the way we got the current simplicity promotion as well. Hi wizzy, Congratulations on signing & goodluck with your upcoming site start in July. I'm guessing you went with your choice of the Brooklyn 45, which is a lovely design which I'm sure you'll be very happy with. To answer your question, the site start bonus you have received is for cat 1 carpet and tiles. I hope that helps. Your Sales Consultant can also help guide you through the details of the promotion and any questions you may have prior to building. Cheers! Jess. Porter Davis Homes Questions? We put down a holding deposit for a 29 Kallara Package last weekend, just getting the block sorted out as it titles quite quickly, i have a feeling everything is going to be a little rushed as PD have said they can guarantee us a July Start.. ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Porter Davis homes 1697May 05, 2011 12:49 pm ![]() Some interesting stories in this thread, we have heard nightmares with other builders but this is the first time I have heard or seen this regarding porter davis. Something I have come to learn after reading many of the threads on the forum - regardless of whom you choose to build with, big builder, small builder, even if you manage the project yourself.. inevitably there will be issues that need to be dealt with. What defines the end result is how those issues are acknowledged and dealt with. Personally, I think all parties involved have the ability to shape how communication and results are dealt with, sometimes emotions play too large a part, often lack of effective communication and sometimes poor standards of workmanship. However all can be resolved with effort by all parties. I think the waiting... waiting... waiting has the ability to turn us into neurotic maniacs!! lol (speaking for myself here!) All things considered, I am still glad we chose to Build with PD ![]() Good Luck with your build! ![]() Re: Porter Davis homes 1700May 05, 2011 2:48 pm ![]() Great post snoofie!
