Our budget is $300,000 for our house not inclduing land - we're wondering if this is possible to do with the Charlton? We do not want any of the major upgrades, so will not be going for the extended kitchen, galley or anything like that. We would like to add some minor upgrades, like spate toilet to the main bathroom upstairs and internal access from the garage. I thought this would be reasonable but now seeing house prices in excess of $360,000 we’re not so sure! Also, how is everyone finding PD as a builder? I've heard only mostly good things! Thank you Re: Porter Davis homes 13698Nov 25, 2016 2:33 pm ZhuZha Hi all Could please anyone help me out and explain how the estimated site costs work with Porter Davis? I am about to start building my first home and can't get their point with site costs. Initially, I was quoted the particular amount and just received the email asking to acknowledge the increase in site costs estimate. I do not understand why to increse estimate and asking for acknowledgement prior the 1st soil test even? Why not to change the costs at contract? Many thanks site cots could be enough to wipe anyone out....so i suppose getting notified along the way is better than at contract., trust me the estimate will increase probably 3 times before you actually know what your paying. They can charge what they like. Re: Porter Davis homes 13699Nov 25, 2016 2:36 pm newbuilder013 Hello all My partner and I have just seen the Porter Davis Charlton 33 display and loved it. Thank you We are building a home of similar size, and are spending mid 3's with quite alot of upgrades, so i suppose anything is possible you just need to be prepared for it not to look anything like the display. ( that being said in the nicest way possible) and closer to the base price. Honestly... sales, through to contract was hell and the most frustrating experience of our lives the build on the other hand started in sept and we are already at lock up so that part has been great! good luck with your build Re: Porter Davis homes 13700Nov 25, 2016 2:42 pm lizbf85 ZhuZha Hi all Could please anyone help me out and explain how the estimated site costs work with Porter Davis? Those guys have more fall across the site but even their site costs came back less than they're quotting us now for! I am just wondering if they are increasing the estimate does that mean they will not decrease it? Like sort of "oh, if they agreed to pay this why are we to decrease it..." Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12551 Ask for references and speak to them.
