Nice little houses for a first home buyer, especially since i am looking for my first home and think I was running my expectations a little high before looking at these. Anybody else who is building these care to share how much they ended up spending on upgrades? Want to try and get a ball park figure for upgrades on top of the H&L package price Re: Porter Davis homes 12077Nov 22, 2015 1:11 am ![]() You really are having a shocking run dojrude. We are also having issues with the quality of our insulation installation (areas not done, poor installation with insulation stuffed in and not cut to size, or shaped around wiring/pipes/ducts etc), with Bradford coming back this week for a second go at it. Like you, there's large areas supposedly being left for downlights, but they don't match up exactly with our electrical diagrams (understandably as the wires have only been 'roughed in'). There really are quite large areas being left without soundscreen making me wonder how effective my very expensive sound screen will now be. Does anyone know how much clearance is meant to be left around insulation for the down lights? I didn't think there needed to be much for the newer ones. Also, does anyone know how important it is for between floor sound screen insulation to be cut to size as compared to being just stuffed in? Could anyone direct me to the relevant regulations and/or installation guidelines? My last house was like this, with halogens... No issues at all Sounds like your other issue is a lazy installer. Any space without insulation is a conductor of heat or sound, simples! Yes we are, but I'm keeping on top of it all. Fingers crossed that once everything is addressed, we'll have a fantastic house. I dread to think how it would have turned out if we didn't have an independent inspector. Re: Porter Davis homes 12080Nov 22, 2015 2:50 pm ![]() Sounds like your other issue is a lazy installer. Any space without insulation is a conductor of heat or sound, simples! Yes that's my concern. Leaving 30+cm gaps in our Soundscreen means the sound won't be blocked. Has anyone who's built with PD had experience with how they should do the insulation? KDR Chadwick 41 Eastern Suburbs KDR Chadwick 41+ Hi there!
