She was meant to call us last Friday with our start date and it is now the end of Tuesday and we have still heard nothing. I am getting very frustrated and annoyed. Has this happened to anyone else. It depends how fast your builder can get a building permit, and a developer's approval. For us, we settled on the 9th of April then started building on the 22nd of May, that is when the land was already scraped. But a week before that, there will be water to be installed, electric meter and the pipes. Then when all these are ready, the slab will be prepared, all in a matter of two weeks. I know it's really frustrating when all you can do is wait, but once all the paperwork are done, it will be really fast. Re: Porter Davis homes 9945Jul 08, 2014 7:07 pm Progress update... our crushed rock has been laid in our slab pad. That's huge considering that we have had dismal weather over the past 3 weeks... http://bendigowaldorf.blogspot.com/2014 ... ad-in.html Re: Porter Davis homes 9946Jul 08, 2014 7:56 pm Help me please... am I worrying about nothing? http://bendigowaldorf.blogspot.com/2014 ... oting.html Re: Porter Davis homes 9948Jul 09, 2014 7:00 am RU22 Guys, can anyone please suggest Building inspector around Keysborough area? We are using New Home Inspections. We've booked them for 4 inspections, one (pre-slab pour) has already been done. They picked up a number of things and I had the report the next morning. Highly recommend them (so far!) Re: Porter Davis homes 9949Jul 09, 2014 8:20 am Mali02 RU22 Guys, can anyone please suggest Building inspector around Keysborough area? Re: Porter Davis homes 9951Jul 09, 2014 5:25 pm Hi all, Just wondering from those who have already been through a build, or who have some knowledge about it, roughly how long does it take from fixing stage to move in? What is process after fixing is complete? We basically want to know a rough move in date - but not getting anything from our BC at all. I understand things might take longer than expected, but surely they can provide a rough / guesstimate at this stage of the build? Thanks! Re: Porter Davis homes 9952Jul 09, 2014 5:27 pm We are going to get NBN with 25/5 Mbps. I'm thinking of buying a 10/100 base router since I don't get more than 25Mbps. This means I will not need a Gigabit Ethernet router. Only question is WAN to LAN throughput. Any advice? Re: Porter Davis homes 9953Jul 09, 2014 5:39 pm Hi Everyone, So I finally got in contact with my BC. Four months ago Porter Davis rang us and said that the developer has not approved our roof tiles so we had to pay an extra $3000. Now we are ready to build and our BC has told us that the developer has not yet approved our tiles. This seems very strange to me. Surely they do not need four months to approve this. Has this happened to anyone else. Do you think I should ring the developer and ask them when it is expected to be approved?? You'll be lucky to find a 10/100 only router these days....plus these things are cheap as chips so why skimp on it? I would just buy a 10/100/1000 router and be done with it. Also you may think 25/5 is not fast down the track and may want to upgrade to 100/50. If you think about it 25/5 is basically ADSL2 speeds......you are not taking full advantage of NBN speeds. They use my money to do it and I can't have it? They use my money to do it and I can't have it? Yep that's right. Well they are shown to you in your contract appointment and after you have signed it all u are then required to pay the deposit. Hi Emily, So how can we ascertain that the drawings have no error? Let's say if there's an error, then they need to redo it and we can't sign the contract on the contract appointment? Hi Emily, So how can we ascertain that the drawings have no error? Let's say if there's an error, then they need to redo it and we can't sign the contract on the contract appointment? You are given set at your contract appointment but they are not the final construction drawings (well they weren't in our case). Your construction drawings are issued a few weeks before you go to site? We picked up a few things between contract drawings and construction drawings, and they were changed and all fixed in the final construction drawings. We've also had a couple of changes since construction drawings were issued (relocation of evap cooling, change to a window)... and these have all been updated too.
