I went through few posts and found few things. Indoors * Continue to test light sockets even when the SS nags you to stop * Take electrical plan - make sure all powerpoints/light switches are correct * Check all taps work and basins drain properly * Take shoes off, walk around with sock and see if any sharp bits catch hold * Open all windows to check for ease of operation * Take your own light globes to test fittings * Take a cloth in case you need to clean benchtops to check for scratches * Check flanges at the base of all cabinets * Check privacy locks work correctly * Check door handles are all level (not on funny angles) * Check you have all bath plugs * Flush toilets * Sit on toilets for a better view from the 'other' direction * Take a copy of your contract and cross off each item as you inspect it * Fill the bathtubs with water, let it settle * Run showers on full, check water drains away and doesn't pool * Check where silicon meets bench tops * Check shower/tap fittings to ensure they have teflon/thread tape * Check ceiling paint for patches, especially where paint has been sprayed, not rolled * Get up in the manhole, check all insulation has been layed, not just thrown up in bundles * Looking at paint finish, door furniture, hinges, all skirtings, windows, shelving, cupboards * Caulking around external doors, flanges at the base of all cabinets, * sticky window winders, creaking hinges, even missing screws from the wardrobe tracks. * check for silicon where tiles meet benchtops Outdoors * Check fit off of down pipes * Check all clips are on down pipes * Check facia and gutters for scratches * Take gumboots or change of shoes * Check caulking around external doors * brickwork, render/paint work, mortar blowouts, * finish around windows, cleanliness of site, * installation of termite treatment * proper fitting off of downpipes and painting of the section at ground level that connects to the storm water (a white pipe) General * Take packet of extra dots in case SS run out of them * Ensure SS's handwriting is legible * Take step ladder/ladder to reach light sockets/climb into manhole * Don't jump ahead of your SS or go too fast. Make sure ALL of your concerns are noted down on paper and not skipped over. Don't move onto the next room until you are completely satisfied. * light globes (to check correct wiring and see if they all worked) * A little electric shaver to test ALL power points, * A torch (just in case it's dark underneath some benches) and I think a tape measure and small spirit level. Anything else to add to this list? Wish you posted that last night, we just had our PCI this morning at 7.30 am ... hahahaha Re: Porter Davis homes 9788Jun 10, 2014 9:06 am Jackula Not the splash back, the back board of the kitchen island. ours is split down the middle as well and from what I remember it was the same at the display Re: Porter Davis homes 9789Jun 10, 2014 9:07 am Fortcon Just wondering if anyone has had a linen closet/long cupboard built in their laundry. We are looking to get one put in, but were told that it might not be possible to do in laminex due to the size of the door. I was sure I've seen them done before & not sure if having the silk gloss finish would make any difference size-wise. Based on some of the quotes I've had for shelving from PD I suspect this would be significantly cheaper if some post handover 'Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.' Anything else to add to this list? This is awesome. Someone should sticky this. My 2 cents ... if u don't have a shaver, use your phone charger 'Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.' I assume you got everything covered even without check list Anything you can think of that I must add to the list or you can recommend based on your experience? Re: Porter Davis homes 9792Jun 10, 2014 10:03 am dk1ngjul1en Ally007 Wish you posted that last night, we just had our PCI this morning at 7.30 am ... hahahaha Hi Ally, how did you go with the PCI? I assume you got everything covered even without check list Anything you can think of that I must add to the list or you can recommend based on your experience? Well the PCI was good, the house is full of red dots now marking all the things that need to be fixed. We pretty much knew in advance what needed to be fixed, went by the house yesterday while the painters were there and made some notes not to forget today. I have to say, different light at different times of day reveals different issues. All in all we are pretty happy, just waiting to see how quick and how good things will be fixed Re: Porter Davis homes 9794Jun 10, 2014 11:49 am After examining the photos we took for our kitchen, we noticed that part of our stove is not aligned with our kitchen island enclosure: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's out of the kitchen boundary by about 200mm! I checked our original floor plans from sales and the stove was inside the kitchen area, but the dim wit drafter at contract drew it outside the kitchen boundaries. They didn't tell us and we didn't notice! (and I hate it because I feel like it's partly my fault because I didn't spot this error). Damn I feel like our dream home is falling apart, first the wrong cabinets installed and now an inconveniently (and disastrously) placed stove. Lesson learnt, next time I really need an independent to review our floorplans before we sign the contract! Re: Porter Davis homes 9796Jun 10, 2014 11:18 pm Hey Fortcon... We are getting full wall cupboards put in to our Waldorf laundry. I wrote a blog post for you to show you what they look like on my 3D model and on our plans... http://bendigowaldorf.blogspot.com/2014 ... undry.html Re: Porter Davis homes 9797Jun 11, 2014 2:48 pm Thanks for that tlblhayward. We are actually wanting a small broom cupboard at the end of our laundry to be made from laminex as it would minimise the space needed as compared to using an internal door, which then requires a door frame, etc..which the drafter has currently drawn up. Since we currently don't even have a metre of bench space in our laundry, we'd like to maximise the bench space as much as we can, so making it a laminex cupboard would be more effective, space wise.
