Iv never once got through to her when calling, never had a call returned and only about half my emails get responded to. Xile - you should get some response. You could PM Helen through this site and ask her to follow up. May I also recommend that you remove your Lot number from your signature. Last year I heard of someone being broken into because people were able to trace back to the persons house and they had been following her blog. Not sure you have a blog, but better to be safe than sorry and keep a little vague on your exact location. Re: Porter Davis homes 9611May 06, 2014 12:58 pm Louise88 Hi everyone! I'm a newbie here - been reading the posts and following some of the members blogs. I really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences. It's been so helpful. First time building a new home. I'm building the Sandarah 45 in a S.E Suburb of Melbourne (@ Jackula - I think we have the same site supervisor and we're building about 2 suburbs away from you). Is it Kris? We didn't like him at the start but he turned out to be a decent bloke to work with Re: Porter Davis homes 9612May 06, 2014 1:28 pm Joshcunno What's everyone's thoughts on the 18 week build time for access single storey homes? We smarted building today ( extremely excited) and just want to know if everyone usually gets to handover before or after that 18 week mark? Also is it regulation to have quite a deep site scrape? We were on flat ground but it looks like our house will be much lower than our neighbors? We never had anything mentioned about a retaining wall or anything like that but just on first look ( in the dark I might add) looks like we may need one? Or is this something they smooth over/down as build progresses? Sorry probably a stupid question How deep did they scrape? This is a concern of mine too. Sorry probably a stupid question Hi Josh, we are just finishing week 12 on our house (if I counted correctly) and we probably have another 2 weeks to go, three at the most so yeah 18 weeks is not far fetched, even though our built was really smooth and we had no issues with bad weather. Think it's was 900 something but it seems that one side is deeper than the other and the back of the block there is no scrape at all? The block was flat when we got it and our neighbours places are all flat. I guess I will be able to tell more once the slab goes in. Do they potentially bring soil back in to build it all up again? Thanks for the replies, ok so there is the chance we could be in before 18 weeks that would be brilliant! I'm hoping things go smoothly but guessing there will be a few ups and downs! Re: Porter Davis homes 9616May 06, 2014 8:59 pm Just wondering if others came across this issue in relation to finance approval? We have a bit of a Mexican stand-off between the bank (cba) and PD. The builder says they won't proceed to construction drawings unless the finance is sorted. The bank is saying they won't approve finance without council stamped drawings. How did others overcome this? Re: Porter Davis homes 9617May 06, 2014 9:06 pm Louise88 The delay was due to problems with my demolition contractor stringing us out. Eventually had to fire him and change to a new one. More to follow later... We also sacked our Demolisher last week after 8 weeks of failed promises. He usually returns phone calls the same day (which is a big difference compared to our building co-ordinator!) More to follow later... We also sacked our Demolisher last week after 8 weeks of failed promises. We had a hugely frustrating experience with the initial demolisher we had decided to go with. He kept advising us that he'd be ready to start the following week, about 6 weeks later we had enough. And unfortunately by that time it was the latter half of December so with the shut down over the Christmas/New year period, it was about 2nd week of January before the new demolition contractor was able to do the job. Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12335 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74701 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
