Congrats to all of those who have moved in and have got through the process! I've been reading the 479 pages on this forum for the last couple of weeks and I really appreciate everyone's input, stories and conundrums shared!
My partner and I are first home buyers and first time builders. We've signed up with Porter Davis & Aria Estate in Plumpton, Victoria.
Has anyone here had any experience with building and/or living in the Forsyth 35? I don't see any talk about it and am wondering if there's something that we've missed. I do understand that the Forsyth 38 was once known by another name (Fullarton I think, but could be wrong).
That aside, if anyone would like to share their experiences; what you would've done, what you wished you hadn't done, what you have done outside of 'standard' and anything else you can think of regarding the Forsyth 35, I'd love to hear from you. Contract Appointment is fast approaching and I'd like to get things sorted.
If it helps, we've signed up for the Forsyth 35 (not the 38, as per the 2 displays in Melbourne) with Belmont Facade, Alfresco and Study options (turns the Galley into a Study and reduces the size of the laundry)
Cheers,
Steve.
PS: I've utilised a few great threads on this forum - and subsequently added them to our contract. Homeone has been a huge saviour - especially for complete amateurs such as ourselves!
Welcome to the PD family
As tlblhaywood said, we've all been amateurs at some point. All I can suggest is read, read and read! You can never know too much when it comes to building a house.
There is a thread floating around called "Things You Forget" (I think!) and it is a huge list of things people wish they had done during their build. Great thread, if you haven't read it I suggest you go and take a look because we ended up with a big list after reading it!
Good luck and I look forward to following your progress!
Thanks!
Yes, that thread is absolute gold - I spent most of the last 2 days going through the pages of it. I collated a list of about 10 changes which have been emailed to the BC - all thanks to that thread.
For those that need it, haven't seen it or lost it - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=5823
I've also noted that 'Helen' from Porter Davis floats around here - I could imagine that she/they will come in handy at times. Hi Helen .
