Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 9546Apr 29, 2014 9:58 pm I will build a house again but I will never build with pd.... Communication from our site supervisor has been nill.... Never answers the phone, never gets back to voice mail or text messages... Simple questions are ignored... In fact I stopped trying long ago and just email my bc to forward the question or issue on then hope for the best. Re: Porter Davis homes 9547Apr 29, 2014 10:17 pm A pretty effective strategy for getting communication happening is to contact Helen by PM'ing her on this forum. Feel free to vent here... it may help others to understand your frustration. Re: Porter Davis homes 9549Apr 30, 2014 12:15 am RU22 Guys, Contract appointment on Thursday any advise or suggestions? Hi RU22... my only advice is to check everyone three times and to make sure that everything reads the way that you want it. You simply can not leave any room for interpretation. All the best! Re: Porter Davis homes 9550Apr 30, 2014 7:21 am Hi RU22, Yep check everything!!! Some of our hopetoun selections had been missed out, the evap cooling vents were in the wrong spots and a few small bits. Don't assume something, get it clarified and written in. Ours went smoothly, but we went in with a list of stuff to check. Goodluck!!! Building the PD Dunes 29 in Point Cook Deposit paid mid Jan 2014 Contracted signed off on 24th April Slab poured on 21st June framework started 27th June Re: Porter Davis homes 9551Apr 30, 2014 10:17 am RU22 Guys, Contract appointment on Thursday any advise or suggestions? I will reiterate what the above two posters have said... check everything. Even down to the little extras such as handles. Also check your drawings, not just the document itself. Just take your time with things, don't feel pressured or rushed into signing if you are not 100% happy. Good luck! Re: Porter Davis homes 9553Apr 30, 2014 10:21 am Hello RU22, here is a list of minor thing that some might find useful. 1) There can be timber piers in some areas which might be good to changed to brick for a better look. 2) Standard design of the rangehood will vent to the roof but not all the way out. 3) Data points to the bedrooms would be handy. 3) Any other type of wiring for any additional equipment that you may fix in future would be useful. 4) Standard design of downlight will be hard wired but not connected to a base. This would make it difficult to replace if required. 5) Grand kitchen would be nice always since standard kitchen would have less number of cupboards and looks smaller. 6) Between windows and roof must be brick otherwise it will not look nice. 7) Portico may not be covered in your standard inclusions unless you picked a value pack that would cover it. Hot topic: New photos of lockup stage available in our blog Hi hash_nanay, In the posts before I mentioned about my issue. There are gaps between windows and bricks. I have been told that is new requiremend since 01/01/2014. All houses started in this year will have such gaps and that complies to Building Code of Australia. Can you tell me 1. when your house construction commenced; and 2. could you post some photo of windows if there are gaps and how the gaps are filled? Thanks Re: Porter Davis homes 9555Apr 30, 2014 4:35 pm Yeah, venting here about no communication work really well. I did it last week and for the first time my BC e-mailed me to inform me that our 4th stage was finished. Never happened before. Re: Porter Davis homes 9556Apr 30, 2014 5:31 pm RU22 Guys, Contract appointment on Thursday any advise or suggestions? Ensure that anything and I mean anything you have written or listed in your contract is in somewhere translated onto you plans. Cross check these. All the tradies only get their respective plans, they don't see you contract. Re: Porter Davis homes 9557Apr 30, 2014 5:54 pm Hi folks, Can anyone actually tell me what happens between Contract signing and the start of the build process? I know that PD need to get council approval but what else is there meant to be? Thanks in advance for the advice. I know that PD need to get council approval but what else is there meant to be? Thanks in advance for the advice. I am probably not the best person to answer this as my response right now is "high blood pressure and a crap load of frustration". I am right smack bang in that process and nothing is turning. Re: Porter Davis homes 9560Apr 30, 2014 6:55 pm 2 days after lockup completion we got an email confirming Fix stage is also completed. That is super fast Wow that is terrible about the insurance!
