Hi meowsy That picture was taken from bricks laid 1 month ago. Do you know how long before mortar dries completely? Re: Porter Davis homes 8646Nov 30, 2013 1:25 pm Was the picture taken recently ? At the bottom of the picture, it looks a little lighter but the overall colour does look a little dark, that's why I assumed it was still wet. If the weather has been wet, it can take a good month to see the true colour of the mortar... It has dried out more than the bricks above...it is quite grey but because your bricks are so light it stands out more. Re: Porter Davis homes 8652Nov 30, 2013 8:54 pm clairemumto5 Sorry backpocket - have fixed blog, comp when into update mode. While at bball with kids... Really like the Vulcan stone benches. Loved the French black too, but wayyyy too expensive. Your kitchen looks great. What colour white did you choose? Ours is alabaster which is also a white but I can only see through dirty plastic covered windows Do you have an estimated pci date? Our SS is sticking to the contract date of April 2. Our fixing inspection is Thursday. Might need to tag along to get inside and get some photos Re: Porter Davis homes 8653Dec 01, 2013 8:23 am Thanks Backpocket - that's why we don't have stone anywhere but kitchen but it was less than we budgeted which was nice. Cabinets are polar white just standard finish though. No pci date as yet contract is 23rd march, but maybe feb if were lucky. Congrats to tinker for handover tomorrow (love your black feature tiles in bathroom!), and skyeo2 very happy for you your time has come. How great for you both to be in your new home in time for chrissy! Re: Porter Davis homes 8654Dec 01, 2013 7:50 pm tinker skye02 PCI has been moved from Monday to Wednesday. Hey skye02 how was the PCI? Hi tinker! Our PCI is now wednesday. We had access to the house saturday so our blinds guy could measure up and we found that our splashback has been installed. Excitement didng last long when I saw how poorly the work had been done. I am so dissappointed. You know when you want one thing to go in perfectly - well my big show piece splashback was it. I will post blog pics tomorroe to try and show you but to put it into words there are three pieces. One join doesnt marry up at he bottom which would prob be fixed with sikicone but the gap is quite thick and the other join doesnt marry up at the top. The second join is so tight together at the bottom it juts out from the wall AND they have scratched the glass and my stone. I want the whole splash back replaced. Ive emailed my BC and text my SS. Hopefully they get back to me quickly. Another set back right before xmas. Re: Porter Davis homes 8655Dec 01, 2013 8:00 pm djames Hi all.... You guys have prompted me to look closer at my contract. It states as follows: 13.1.2 Mortar colour consistency - Some minor variations in colour may occur due to the variable nature of sands used in the making of the mortar. However, this is not considered to be a defect. So my question is this... considering they have the sandy colour at hoetaun as the "standard" colour in which selections are based on... would you call the difference from that to the grey I have as a minor variation? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Cheers. That is terrible and I think a very big variation. I know I would not be happy if thst was my house and I had picked standard mortar because thats not how I would expect it to look either. What has PD said? We chose standard colour too - and it looks so different to yours. It's not the same as the sample at Hopetoun, but it's so much lighter that what you've ended up with. I hope you can sort something out - I'm sure they can do something! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Porter Davis homes 8657Dec 01, 2013 8:10 pm Hi Inglewood! It almost looks like you got off white mortar (without paying for it)! Winning! Re: Porter Davis homes 8658Dec 01, 2013 8:18 pm skye02 Hi Inglewood! It almost looks like you got off white mortar (without paying for it)! Winning! LOL! hmmmm - I wonder This is the colour of the sand they're using. Really impressed with the job they are doing, it's really tidy and uniform - which is what you'd expect anyway, but we're very happy. Either of the mortar colours went with our brick so we were happy to go with the standard. We just think we're winning with fabulous brickies!!! Wow that is terrible about the insurance!
