Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 8624Nov 29, 2013 4:32 pm Back Pocket We have been told that there is a company who will "colour" the mortar. This maybe an option. That would be awesome... I'm not out to get anything out of this other than it be fixed to what I chose and what I expected.. if it suited the bricks I wouldn't even mind but the colours are so off together. even my partner who is not really into picking this sort of stuff up hates it. Anyway I Haven't been able to get a hold of my site supervisor today so ill try again on Monday I guess. I will say though I cant say bad things yet about PD as every time I have had an issue (and there has not been too many) it has been sorted with no hassle at all. Re: Porter Davis homes 8625Nov 29, 2013 6:08 pm ajd78 Tinker, how was your PCI? Hey ajd78 it was better than we hoped we did have a few issues. Most of its suppose to be done before handover. It took us about 3hours. Updated the blog. The height of the fridge cavity is not what we asked. For we won't be able fit our fridge in. SS said he will order a new cupboard but it might not be ready by handover. Let see how it goes. We are suppose to have handover on Monday. Re: Porter Davis homes 8626Nov 29, 2013 6:11 pm Backpocket I have updated the blog with picture of the window check it out. Anyone who has had handover recently or will be having handover. Are the data points projector pre-wire & intercom pre-wire connections done before handover what about heating and cooling was it connected before handover? Re: Porter Davis homes 8627Nov 29, 2013 6:14 pm ajd78 Hi Djames, I asked the exact same colour when we started... I have brown bricks so prob not as obvious, but here is the response I got - hope it helps (well it doesn't but here is PD answer).. Your colour selection document cites Standard mortar colour, which is a cement colour like grey. Your mortar colour would’ve been shown to you on the day of your appointment. Claire, sorry to hear about your hold ups... We received our fixing invoice today but we have so many issues at the moment I have no idea what is going to happen next.... A bit disappointing really... Trying to hold out until our inspection with our guy so that should help a little bit.. (clarity wise)... Seems the colour is an issue for most. Ours is grey too. Was expecting off white like the one at Hopetune. Re: Porter Davis homes 8628Nov 29, 2013 9:03 pm tinker Backpocket I have updated the blog with picture of the window check it out. Are the data points projector pre-wire & intercom pre-wire connections done before handover what about heating and cooling was it connected before handover? Hi Tinker Just checked out your blog, it is all looking amazing. The tiling looks fabulous, a great job. Re what happens at handover - we were contacted by the heating/cooling people for them to come on the day of handover, they gave a 3 hour window. As I had to head to PD office to collect keys, I didn't know what time I would be back, so I actually got them to come the next business day. I found this better as then I was definitely home and they could show me how it all works. The Hot water service, dishwasher and stove were all installed whilst we were doing final walk through. We don't have projector pre-wire or intercom, we only had the TV on the wall points - these were all done before handover. Good luck for Monday, am sure there will be some action at your house over the weekend. Great to see your driveway also. Re: Porter Davis homes 8629Nov 29, 2013 9:09 pm ajd78 Who was it that had an undersized laundry chute? I think it might have been mummadj? I have a pic of ours on the blog now and just wondered how it compared. Yes, we had the undersized chute, however it has been rectified this week, otherwise I would've been highly jealous of yours ajd! It isn't quite as big as yours, but at least it is now the full width of the cupboard - so now around 375mm wide and 260mm deep. It can't be any deeper due to how it lines up with the room downstairs. Anyway, happier now. Re: Porter Davis homes 8630Nov 29, 2013 9:46 pm [quote="tinker"]Seems the colour is an issue for most. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Porter Davis homes 8631Nov 29, 2013 10:54 pm Djames hate to tell you, but your mock up is off white mortar not standard. Standard will also depend on the sand colour that is delivered when brickies sand is ordered which is why it can be changeable. It is a base price. If you pay for off white they put colour in with the sand to make sure it is the lighter colour regardless of the sand colour delivered. That's my understanding. Did you go and look at houses with your brick? Did you go to an austral display and see the brick with different colour mortar? Some of the displays at hopetoun are older and brick manufacturers and even the girls at hopetoun will suggest you go and see the " current colour" of the bricks coming from the kiln now. We have harvest cotton. Ash, harvest cotton and parchment are the same colour just with different textures. Regardless of what colour it is the fact remains that at hopetoun it is categorised as standard and thats what I expect... not grey. I am telling you standard depends a lot on the colour of brickies sand they use and "standard" means they use whatever colour sand is delivered. "Standard" is not a colour of itself. BTW I am not attacking you, just trying to assist with an explanation. Do you the hot water service etc were installed on the day of the handover? Love the recess TV points we just have normal plug points although we did requested ones for wall mount. checked with our SS he said to check with the guys who come to set up the intercom they will do it. Let's see. Ya hopes so. The stain in the front door doesn't match the frame as they are two kinds of wood. Not happy about it. Wonder wether its normal. Re: Porter Davis homes 8638Nov 30, 2013 1:37 am Has anyone selected chestnut as the garage door colour? If so would love to see pictures. Our garage door looks much darker than the sample we were shown at colour appointment. Might have to drop in to check. Phase anyone had any issue with the front entry door stain colour not matching the front entry frame. We are told its cause the different timber stains differently. I was hoping the door and frame would look the same. Re: Porter Davis homes 8639Nov 30, 2013 8:52 am tinker MummaDJ tinker Backpocket I have updated the blog with picture of the window check it out. Hi Tinker Yes, hot water service etc is all installed on handover day. This is so no one steals them with a builders key. They should be installed first thing in the morning so you can see them. The recess TV points for wall mount TV is how they came - it is listed on our Electrical Selection list as: "Wall mounted TV pre-wiring ($367) - Pre-wire only for future wall mounted TV (inc HDMI, RG6 coaxial link, flush mount wall box inc GPO) cables to run from nominated TV location to nominated home theatre system equipment location (max 3m of cable)." So suggest you check your electrical proposal from Argus that you signed and check what it says. Re: Porter Davis homes 8640Nov 30, 2013 10:46 am Back Pocket No I am not telling you that.
