Re: Porter Davis homes 7187May 01, 2013 1:00 pm neilrosh Mumtomonkeys Hi! Just jumping in this thread, as a excited newbie, who has learned so much thanks to all of your input, so a big thank you! We're upgrading to a bigger home have just put the 1000 deposit on each the house and land. We're going with the Dunedin 29 . We wanted the alfresco, but have been advised we can't, as it would mean the building takes up 63% of the land which can't be done we just can't go past the floor plan of the Dunedin so will do the alfresco after handover. Anyway, just saying hi! Ad look forward to learning more and sharing Hi there! Just wanted to say hello as we are also building the Dunedin 29. We were lucky enough to be able to add the al fresco area. It's a lovely floor plan. We are a little more advanced and hope to have the slab down by the end of May, all going well. Wow, how exciting! Where are you building? Have you started a blog ir thread so I can eagerly follow you? Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Porter Davis homes 7188May 01, 2013 1:04 pm MummaDJ Mumtomonkeys Hi! PD accommodated all the disability access issues for the guest room downstairs which was a huge relief and meant that we signed today. We were not able to get the heating vent in the store because we had chosen the enclosed toilet option for the ensuite. This meant that the toilet now goes where the service duct would have gone. We decided that the enclosed toilet was more important to us. Well me really Just a note we were told no to the hearing vent in the store initially too. BUT the Aston display booklet lists all the upgrades in the house and it has a "drying room" option which includes a heating vent in the store and the store has double hanging rods like a robe. We pointed this out and would have been able to get it as it is listed as an option. Is the heating vent in the aspire display listed in the display brochure? If it is I would push for it. That's great news about the disability access! Wahoo! Re: Porter Davis homes 7190May 01, 2013 7:35 pm Not sure if this is new but we received a copy of the contract yesterday at tender so we could review before we get to contract day. It seems that PD just add the tender document hopetoun selection pricing, tiles and electrical and the drawings to this. We were told to ask any questions we liked but that it would not be changed. Interesting when there has been a lot of discussion about getting a copy of the contract well before being asked to sign on the day. Will have the solicitor look at it because although it is a HIA contract, it is a version specifically for PD I am told. Re: Porter Davis homes 7191May 01, 2013 8:06 pm Back Pocket, interesting to hear what you have experienced there- I understood you could review the standard contract prior to signing, I would be interested to see what the building lawyer says about it. I wasn't sure whether I was going to have it looked over but I reckon my conveyancer will look it over as part of the broad conveyancing. We have our contract appointment at the end of the month- no tender as it is an Access home. In regards to the colour and electrical selection, on contract signing day, can many changes be made to those aspects? Because on selection day, you don't get costings, right? So you don't know if you are happy to spend the money on all the extras...so how can you make informed choices when you don't know the costs.... There was also one in the old 24/7 portal. Re: Porter Davis homes 7193May 01, 2013 11:57 pm tinker Back Pocket Hi Tinker, I have been told that unless the house is designed with a laundry shute that they will not do one as they have to make changes to the joists between the floors which means re engineering. I am trying to get a heating vent in the laundry and they have said no extra heating downstairs because of the location of service ducts however they have put one in the store in the craigieburn display so I know it has been done and I am trying to get it. You probably need to look at what is upstairs over the laundry to see if there is anyway it could be put there. Hope that this helps. We have our second go at tender tomorrow, supposedly it has all been entered correctly now. Hi We wanted a heating vent to the study as per the hoffman at aspire display. But we were told that its not possible and the one in display might not function and could only be for "display" purpose that doesn't make sense. If you do manage to get it pls let me know? Good luck for tomorrow. Hi Tinker, I'm going to look into this for you. Someone will be back in touch with you shortly. Cheers, Helen Porter Davis Homes Questions? Highlight is the staircase installation. Woo hoo!!! We absolutely loved the design especially the customised large landing step. More info provided in the blog. A big thanks to PD to allow the customisation, we were told it will be a unique design Anyone interested can visit my blog below http://micwaldorf44.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Porter Davis homes 7197May 03, 2013 6:42 pm Hi all, First time poster, long time reader. We recently (last two months~) went through the whole contract process with PD. The sales process was great and went very smoothly. Loved our sales rep, very willing to help out and very quick to provide answers to queries. The tender/contract period however has been quite slow. PD were quite quick to get us in to sign the contract (which was very wrong by the way), most of the variations were written up on the day however some issues were discovered the day after we signed which are still not written up yet (this was amonth or so ago~). We've also found to receive any kind of progress/update on how things are going on the admin/PD side, we continually have to contact our BC and request an update. We can go for 2 weeks without receiving any update! Just not feeling the love! heh. How have other peoples post-contract/administration time/BC interaction been? Hopefully better than ours! Re: Porter Davis homes 7198May 03, 2013 6:58 pm Off to look at our land tomorrow. Apparently the driveways and footpaths are all done. Hope the gates are down.
