Building on a sloping block

ahhh...the view makes it all worthwhile in the long run...imagine sitting outside with your cup of coffee and favourite pastry enjoying the view....relaxation personified

Anything that is easy - anyone can do - build on a flat block and you get a lovely view of the windows and bricks next door. :shock:

Go the extra effort and costs
Make that sloping block work, and you get to enjoy lovely views for ever more.

I hate flat blocks :twisted:

I have ocean views (over thr top of other houses) from my bedrooms, balconies, kitchen, lounge, laundry, gardens - I love it.

Give me a sloping block anyday.

It's a great way to wake up and live connected with nature

It's all about choosing the right flat block!

Ok - there are few and far between - but we have views from the top of a hill towards a golf course at the front, woodland forest at the back and golf course to one side - we have a neighbour on our south side only.

After reading that I went and looked at you updated blog -WOW- what a great spot.

You are alot more patient then me 19 months waiting for land? It will be worth it

True - I did generalise

It's just that Adelaide is very flat, and waht is known as - on the plains - can get very hot and still, where as up on a rise, or on a slope, we tend to get a nice breeze.

There aren't many blocks like it - trust me - we've been looking for 2 years! But this heavy downpour over Sydney is not helping the excavation crews putting in the utilities & roads

The only reason we are persisting with our block is the view as the back of the block faces a nice park with lotsa trees & a little creak running through and even free BBQ

and I'm kinda attached to the design I have drawn up so its gonna be nice IF we can afford it.

Try living in Whyalla!! everything is flat!!
So called Hummock Hill (naturall scrub behind town) is a mound of dirt 5 year olds can walk easily.

My parents have a split level house in Adelaide foot hills, front balcony overlooks lights of the city, beautiful view, balcony extends full length of house and has chairs and coffee table, perfect for summer evenings.

Helyn, Yep - lots of oz is flat - To me having a view is inspiration - time to dream - time to plan and enjoy.
So climb to the top of the hill - sit there - review you're new house spot - dream, enjoy, then go do.

Hotondo homes were advertising building homes on a slope this morning. Might be worth investigating if they build in your area.
