First time I've driven past on a Monday morning and seen more than one car. The chippie, painter and kitchen deliverers (is that a word?) were there. I was there to meet Blind Lady, Wardrobe measurer and Carpet measurer. So all happening on site today. Also saw our tiled bathroom and ensuite - nice Our finish date of 21 September (oh, hang on that's Friday) is looking a little shaky. But it's nice to see loads of people on site doing stuff. I reckon we're about 3-4 weeks from finishing. Re: Building in the Shire - Cabinets are in! 70Sep 28, 2012 4:01 pm Thanks everyone. All the benchtops went in today and the back decking is done. Bit more painting, splashbacks and the electrical work should be all happening next week. Two weeks and counting... Re: Building in the Shire - Cabinets are in! 71Sep 28, 2012 8:31 pm Looks great! Casey + Gary + 5 kool kiddos + 1 funky Frenchie + 5 happy hens = barrels of fun in Muswellbrook Re: Building in the Shire - One week to go 72Oct 11, 2012 6:27 pm Still counting...finish date has slipped one week. Popped in yesterday to sort out lights and the house was buzzing ... 2 carpenters, 2 painters, 2 electricians, 2 plumbers and 2 guys installing wardrobes. Carpet is booked for next Wednesday, Handover on Thursday. Now the only thing to hold us up is the driveway - we want that done before we move in and landscapers aren't starting that until next Wednesday. Looking forward to a big weekend of packing boxes. Re: Building in the Shire - One week to go. 73Oct 19, 2012 5:15 pm No driveway this week - Now that I've finally forgiven my builder for being so slow, I now shifted my anger to the landscaper. He promised us a driveway last Wednesday and it's now not happening til next Wed. I'd actually booked the removalists for next Friday. And the really annoying part, is that the following week is ridiculously-busy-week at work and I can't get any time off. We'll have to shift the move to first week in Nov. How's the irony - we've waited over 18 months to get this house built, only to have it ready at a time that doesn't suit us! Oh well, what's one more week. At least the pool may almost be ready when we move in. Rendered today, now it needs to sit for a week or two before the tiler moves in. This week they finished off wardrobes, splashbacks, lights, alarm, aircon, carpet. The house is looking fantastic with only a few minor things to finish up - balsutrades, few bathroom things - mirror/cracked basin/ towel rails, fix a couple of lights, appliances need to go in and some tiling on the front stairs. Should be done by mid-week. Blinds are going in Tuesday. Still a few things to finish off and builders have of course gone AWOL as we've paid them. Awning needs to go on (supposed to be today except for the rain) and a few little paint touch ups and electrical things to fix - like put a phone point into the kitchen. Bit of a Telstra stuff up during first week but we finally have phones - but no internet yet. The IT data dude is coming in on Monday to link up all our data/speakers/TVs/door intercoms and stuff. Haven't seen the landscapers for weeks but they're waiting on the pool coping to be finished - next week's job. Would be nice to get gardens and pool done by Xmas. But all in all, we're ssoooooo happy to be in. Pictures to follow when I can find the camera. Re: Building in the Shire - We're In !
