Browse Forums Building A New House Re: How many coats of paint to have? 2Jan 22, 2008 10:10 am Vlad76 For any paint experts out there, is three coats a must or is two ok as well? And what are the issues associated with this? We've been told that for lighter colours, especially whites, you should go for 3 coats to ensure total coverage. But 2 coats is fine for everything else. But Im no expert.. just going on what I've been told. Re: How many coats of paint to have? 3Jan 22, 2008 10:25 am New plaster - undercoat first, then two coats should be plenty.
Over colours - depends if light over light, light over dark, dark over light. Some dark colours may need undercoat to stop colour coming through. Re: How many coats of paint to have? 5Jan 22, 2008 1:28 pm Ours is the same Vlad. We were told it was a tinted undercoat, then one coat of the colour. Darker colours need 3 coats for appearance (to avoid patches) so any darker colours were extra charge.
Ray. Second Time 'Round I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105574 They already have two well known ones (HIA & MBA) that many new home buyers mistakenly think are regulatory bodies that Joe Public can complain to. 6 18022 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7165 |
