Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 21, 2013 9:39 pm Hi everyone!
So excited to be starting a thread regarding our own building journey. We are building in Melbourne suburbs. We will knock down a pre existing brick house on our block. Hoping for site start to occur in October of this year. We went to our first appointment today to discuss floor plan variations and options. Deposit paid and soil test and site survey ordered. Re: Building a Porter Davis Sandarah 45-knock down and rebui 2Jul 22, 2013 9:27 pm Good luck with your build.. We have also just knocked down in the East... I had a little sticky beak at your blog and I would say it would be relatively close to us - within a suburb or two... But I guess it could be anywhere really... I hope your knockdown and everything else goes well! Good luck! Re: Building a Porter Davis Sandarah 45-knock down and rebui 3Jul 22, 2013 11:07 pm I checked out your blog too ajd78! Very exciting, I must be a few months behind you. Thanks for your very informative posts. I will save your blog to my favourites! Good luck.
I went to national tiles and austra bricks today. Love the elements collection but based on research, sounds like it will be around 15000 for category 8-9 bricks...I don't think so... I found the melbourne collection, hawksburn and auburn quite nice. I believe they are category 6? Re: Building a Porter Davis Sandarah 45-knock down and rebui 4Jul 27, 2013 11:26 pm Checked out showroom this weekend. A little disappointed with their range. Especially the doors. Range of national tiles were also very disappointing. Now considering installing tiles post handover.
Also, it is frustrating that the consultants can't really an indication for prices as you go up categories. Blog updated with pictures. Re: Building a Porter Davis Sandarah 45-knock down and rebui 5Jul 28, 2013 1:20 pm Hi ya, you can get any of the doors off their brochure / website. I also found that side of things frustrating not being able to know how much upgrades are... Funny thing is that do know a lot of them as they can give you a lot of them during your colours appointment!! Are your roof tiles concrete or terracotta for prestige? Just had a look at your blog... Good luck with the soil test.. Make sure you go through it with a fine tooth comb. They will overstate the 1st test and try and tell you there were no improvements with the 2nd one. PM if you have any questions. Good luck! x Re: Building a Porter Davis Sandarah 45-knock down and rebui 6Aug 17, 2013 11:45 am ajd78 Hi ya, you can get any of the doors off their brochure / website. We finally got a call from the building coordinator 4 weeks after paying the deposit. Our tender isn't for another 3 weeks.... was hoping that it was going to be a bit sooner. However, site start is still for November which is good. In other news, our house settled a few days ago! We will have a demolition sale and then demolish after that! Yes well there solution is to blame everyone else while I a 65yr old woman with major medical problems have to just continue to boil water and wash myself in a bucket… 2 12451 If you make sure all taps inside and out are turned off, what does the water meter show if you leave it for a while. 2 16227 13 4651 |
