Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 382Nov 09, 2012 1:36 pm Hey guys This is for those who are getting internet with Telstra. When you connect with them, they'll probably put you on 'Elite' speed internet, but we are entitled to 'Ultimate' speed internet, so just mention it to them when you organise your connection. There's no extra costs. Download speed of 'Elite' internet is up to 30Mb/sec, and 'Ultimate' internet is up to 100Mb/sec. Your upload speed will be a lot faster too. Mike and Jen Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 383Nov 10, 2012 7:09 am Hi everyone, sorry we havent been around for a while, work and family have become very very busy. What progress our little stage is making, a few lucky people moved in and it looks like a few more very soon. We look forward to seeing you all in the future. cheers Clay and Thil Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 384Nov 13, 2012 9:26 am Just wondering, people who are in, if any of you changed over your electricity company straight away? I want to switch but am not sure if you have to wait out the month or if you can avoid an Origin bill? Building the Carlisle Sienna 31 at Somerfield Lot 1550 Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 385Nov 13, 2012 10:22 am hi Jen. Decided to stay with Origin until first bill, to avoid any further issues with power companies, new connections etc. With my experience thus far I would not tempt fate whilst moving in, perhaps wait until you get first bill, pay it, then switch !! Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 386Nov 13, 2012 10:34 am Hello Jen We've decided the same as Sherro, wait on first bill then switch to a better plan. We've also got a solar power unit installed the other week, so we'll have to wait for the paper work for that to go through first too. The only difference is that we're not with Origin, we're with Energy Australia. I think the builder organises an energy company to call you up. The whole building experience has ended for us yesterday. The builder has fixed up all that is needed by them, so we can now just sit back and enjoy the new home experience Well not totally sit back, landscaping still needs to be done Mike and Jen Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 387Nov 13, 2012 11:03 am Good to hear Mike! I just dont really want to give Origin my business, they're pretty much at the bottom of the list when you go onto comparison sites >.< Dan did they offer a Monthy payment option so you dont have to wait the quater? Excuse me if that's a dumb question, I've never paid a power bill before lol! Building the Carlisle Sienna 31 at Somerfield Lot 1550 Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 388Nov 14, 2012 6:05 pm Telstra fibre optic is a total debacle. We called Telstra and signed up. When they sent a tech to install the OTP box he informed us that the lead in cable from the pit has not been pulled to the house. I called Telstra over 40-50 times some of the calls ranging over 30 mins from my cell. Till today we do not have Internet or a phone connection. I seriously don't know how they run this company. The customer service guys have no clue. To top this we received a bill from Telstra for a service that is non-existent. Called the Somerfield sales office but they could not offer much assistance. They even made me call their contractors to check if the fibre had been installed. We were so happy with our old ISP until we were forced to go with Telstra. Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 389Nov 15, 2012 7:00 am Hello J & C I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with Telstra, but to my knowledge, the fibre optics between underground and your house is suppose to be done by your builder, the same is for the cabling around your house. The Telstra technician is just there to connect the two together and commission it. This might be a dumb question, but have you been speaking to the "Smart Community" sales guys? They are not contacted on the same number as the normal telstra sales guys. If not, their number is 1800 008 994. During the conversation with them when I booked in the installation, I remember being asked if the fibre optics have been extended to the house by our builder. Considering that the question was asked, I would think that if it hasn't been done by your builder yet, they would have to book in a different technician who will dig up your yard and extend it as required. Before moving to Somerfield, I've used Optus and Telstra at my old house, and Telstra's internet is second to none. There is no speed fluctuation during peek and off peek, and no other internet provider can match the 100mb/sec speed Telstra offers. They are also happy to send out a technician to help you out if they can't do so over the phone, where as Optus will only do so if you're willing to pay up for them to come out. I hope everything works out for you J & C. Mike and Jen Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 390Nov 15, 2012 4:16 pm I was informed by our builder that they only do the trench as Telstra does not provide them with the cables to do the connections from the pit to the house. They don't even have the cable available from outside the house to inside. And thanks for the number we've been calling the same number all along. We even informed Telstra that the process should have been very a straightforward one as there are many houses that are already connected to the fibre. We still don't have a phone line after being assigned with a case manager. Our bank is being difficult and need to bridge the time between handover and them deciding to not be difficult anymore.. Like 1-2 days.. Building the Carlisle Sienna 31 at Somerfield Lot 1550 Re: Somerfield Keysborough Stage 15ers 400Nov 20, 2012 6:54 am We have discovered that our neighbouring builder is using our water. At first I caught them using our electricity and sent an email to the builder. Is there a body that we can complain. Not unless you have managed to put it as a special condition into the contract somehow. 1 6168 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn. Just the way it is. 1 8725 1 4714 |
