Can anyone please give us some advice?
We are building our first home in Doreen. We were going to have our walk through this week then the handover the week after. However, Sat morning we discovered overnight the house had been broken into and flooded. entering the house we have also found walls with crowbar marks and power points ripped out. It is estimated at atleast $25,00 damage. Upon notifying the builder of our find they told us the wall damage had been done the night before but they must have come back to flood it. There was NO DAMAGE to any external doors or windows! They have gained entry through an open window. (All our windows are key lockable.) The builder did not attempt to clean the water out therefore causing more damage leaving the house locked up. My husband and I are very distraught that this has happened as is our 6 year old daughter who was so excited to have her own room. (we have been renting a one bedroom unit to afford to build this) The builder wants to extend the contract without paying any penalties to us as they believe it was beyond their control. I feel this isnt the case beacuse the lockable window was left open. Has anyone had a similar thing happen or can offer advice????
