Re: Habitat Consultants? 2Jul 12, 2011 8:25 pm Don't know anything about the Habitat Group but this link might give you some thoughts to help you prepare for the consultation: http://www.anewhouse.com.au/?p=1133 The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Web site http://www.anewhouse.com.au Informative, Amusing, and Opinionated Blog - Over 600 posts on all aspects of building a new house. Re: Habitat Consultants? 3Jul 12, 2011 8:37 pm Should take 1-2 hours at most - their range is faily limited for things such as fixtures and fittings but they seemed to be knowledgable enough regarding most of the electrical stuff. Be prepared to pay a bomb for home automation/networking if that's what you're after, but the prices for electrical changes (eg. additional light points) is similar to other volume builders from what I have read. Also be prepared to pay a substantial amount for extensive downlighting and three phase power (for refridgerated aircon) if you want/need them, but again that is not unusual. Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Re: Habitat Consultants? 4Jul 13, 2011 5:06 pm We did ours with M a couple of weeks ago.. Staff member did well setting up the house how we want it light switch wise, power points etc.. The only problem was they didnt have much knowledge on most of the products they were selling (downlights, NBN equipement etc...) We were happy with them at the end of the day. http://lindeman28.blogspot.com - Our building blog Re: Habitat Consultants? 5Jul 14, 2011 12:36 am Good to hear those. All more or less positive feedbacks it seems. A friend commented that their knowledge can be quite limited depending on the consultant assigned. Moreover, pricing keeps changing (could be knowledge related as well) and I was also told that you become like a *ping-pong* ball once you start to deal with them i.e. you get to interact with different people in the company from one day to another (not sure if this is a good or bad thing). As advised here, I was told that they would cost me a bomb since M has its mark-up, Habitat has its own and suppliers/contractors have theirs. I don't mind paying if there is no screw-ups and workmanship is top-notch (if such thing exists). |
