Haven't been on this site for a while.... I run a bookkeeping business and this time of year it gets quite hectic. I'll have to upload our plans.... still with Playford council for approval and let me tell you.... they are NOT the greatest to deal with..... anyway, fingers crossed they'll pass our plans soon lol.... Once that happens, I'll have to super urgently organise fencing for the back of the block, get it slashed so it's ready for the builder. I would imagine that if we get approval by end of this month, they will start sometime next month?? cheers for now Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 7Aug 16, 2011 10:16 pm Well, gotta love Councils...... they would be happier if we built a cheap little box rather than a nice custom house lol.... they're worried about our render colour and don't like the fact we are having a Western Red Cedar look Panelift door......mmmmmm Not everybody wants plain colourbond.... this is supposed to be our Dream Home and is beginning to feel like a nightmare... and we havent even started building yet.... We just purchased some land and Stellar is one of the builders we are looking into. Any info would be appreciated. All the best - I look forward to seeing your build progress. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 10Nov 20, 2011 2:18 pm Hi We are also embarking on the long and arduous journey in building our dream home with Stellar Homes. We are also waiting on Council, they have just given us planning approval and we are expecting building approval next week. We have found Stellar to be ok to deal with so far but I dont want to praise them to much until they have given us the final price and we see what their project management skills are like in delivering a product to meet our high expectations. We also based our home on the Mirage so I would be keen to know what changes you may have made. We are demolishing and rebuilding in the Campbelltown Council Area. Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 11Nov 20, 2011 2:30 pm We have chosen to go with a Limestone fascade and return down one side, we are on a corner block, then licorice bricks with Brighton Lite mortar from PGH for the remainder of the house. We also chose monument grey for fasia and guttering and are planning to paint the front and double panellift garage door and the awning windows at front in monument as well. Hi, we're on an upward sloping block so our house is split over 3 levels.... we are having rendered front with a similar look to Stellars Wiltshire 16..... colour is Flokati double strength.... licorice bricks with brighton lite white also lol... monument gascias, gutters, etc and black roof tiles.... if we're not happy with the flokati we will repaint.... I didn't like choosing from the Wattyl range as they don't provide colour charts like everyone else.... tried a dulux colour in wattyl paint and it was vastly different... anyway, we will see... Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 13Nov 22, 2011 9:10 pm well, we finally got council approval end of october..... we quickly had the block slashed and just over a week later Stellar started with site preps.... mostly good except the guys forgot to bench our garden level as requested so they have to come back later to do that.... however, from start of site prep to 2 levels of slabs (3rd one tomorrow) has only been 2 weeks so happy with that. not happy with the level of excessive cutting in the back of the block though.... for some reason they cut into rock an extra 5m past end of house for our "entertaining" area..... LMAO.... they can put it all back and pay for the extra retaining and bringing back of soil.... if they read the plans correctly they would see we have an UMR Al Fresco.... we specifically specified 2 - 2.m metres max from end of house.... guess the arguments are going to start about whose cost this will be?? anyway, I'm sure we will sort it out.... saw the engineer on site this arvo and he said they did good work with the slab stuff ...... will keep you all posted Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 14Nov 22, 2011 9:32 pm Scorch Hi We are also embarking on the long and arduous journey in building our dream home with Stellar Homes. We also based our home on the Mirage so I would be keen to know what changes you may have made. We are demolishing and rebuilding in the Campbelltown Council Area. the Mirage on display is a total of 288 sq m - ours is 315..... we enlarged the garage to a 7m wide x 6m deep and made bedrooms 2,3 and study metre longer and fractionally wider.... our kitchen is located in what is the family room in their display home (also extended our a metre) .... I have no idea on how to upload our plans lol.... pm me with your email address and I can email to you..... we up-specced a lot of things as this is our final house (hopefully lol) and we no longer have little kids which means 2 pac kitchen etc is no longer a worry in respect to kiddy damage.... would love to hear and see what you guys are doing.... Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 16Nov 25, 2011 10:26 pm here is a video of our design...i obviously have too much time on my hands. excuse the solar panel I left on the front lawn http://youtu.be/IV0v5-S24a0 Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 17Nov 25, 2011 10:44 pm We loved the split level as seen at blackwood but our block doesnt have the fall and my wornout knees are pretty happy about that. This is our first build attempt and i hope i haven't bitten off too much. We have followed your lead and have a few upgrades as well, including 3 metre ceilings, two pack, bulkhead over the kitchen, and kubic taps from reece. We also have a nice essastone benchtop with waterfall edges and we are going handleless on all kitchen cupboards. Louise has picked out a nice spa as well http://www.reece.com.au/bathrooms/products/1792822 Not that the move i linked in my last post is exact in dimensions but some finishes are hard to virtualise. Note that being a fanatical Carlton fan that is juddy on the proposed 65 inch tv in the family room. Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 18Nov 26, 2011 10:47 am Scorch, you are planning a similar kitchen/ family room / outdoor area to what we are building. It should work well. Slab Down: 2/6/11 Moved in 13/3/2012 Current Status : Waiting for the garden to grow. Re: Building Dream Home with Stellar Homes, SA 20Nov 30, 2011 7:39 pm you just need an apple mac and 100 hours of tinker time and you could sit in your virtual lounge room as well Note that I am a veteran IT engineer but this was my first foray into both apple and design, it has been quite fun although I expect the execution to be much more difficult. I plan to take virtual photos of each room and give hem to the contractors so they have an idea of what we are thinking J Ask for references and speak to them.
