Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 181Nov 10, 2011 8:22 pm If that's true that's no good! MIght have to call Telstra and find out. Wireless internet is crap and expensive. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 182Nov 10, 2011 8:34 pm Drew had Telstra out at his block today and they said they cannot provide a telephone service. We have just emailed Stockland for clarification on the matter. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 183Nov 10, 2011 8:36 pm Damn How in this day and age can they not have telephone cable laid in a new estate!? Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 186Nov 11, 2011 8:48 am i just looked up the NBN web site and it said that a detailed plan is going to be released this month, maybe thats why we all have to have concreate fronts to the driveways, so the NBN can get laid. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 187Nov 11, 2011 9:08 am The driveways are a council thing for visual continuity. The NBN will require little digging as the provisions have been fitted to the estate already. It is a case of just pulling cables through pipes. It's for this reason I'd speculate the roll out for Glenmore Ridge should be quite quick. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 188Nov 11, 2011 10:16 am The NBN has up until 2021 to rollout services. In the meantime Telstra/Stockland should be responsible to provide services to residents, we need to have the facility to make an emergency phone call to 000, regardless of our mobile phone situation. As for a Satellite phone, aside from being expensive, you have to wait for it to find the satellites before you can make a call. We have used them for work purposes and its not just a case of turn on and off you go. We should wait and see how Stockland will act on this. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 189Nov 16, 2011 12:16 pm I emailed Staockland and my little part ( release 7 ) should have NBN by the end of the year. As far as building goes we have finished bricks, more stuff starts on monday, Elderton has been real good so far, Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 190Nov 16, 2011 3:35 pm Dear residents, Stockland wishes everyone a very merry Christmas this year for you and your families and would like to invite you to the last Community event for the 2011 year. To make up for the last event, which was sadly rained out, we will attempt to re-hold the ‘Jazz in the Park’ event at the lovely Jacaranda Park in Glenmore Ridge. Fingers crossed the weather holds up! Please note we are planning on having a giving tree this year and it would be greatly appreciated if you got involved to help support the Smith Family charity by donating a new gift to less privileged children. The event details are as follows: (these have also been posted out to you) 12:30-3:00pm Activities planned for the day include Jazz In the Park, BBQ Lunch, Santa Claus, Kite Flying and more! I look forward to seeing you on the day! Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 193Nov 28, 2011 8:08 am I will email Misha at Stockland directly regarding this issue, but thought I would use this forum as a platform to see if anyone else has recently had any issues stemming from the lack of security that is being provided out at the development? I had to engage in my own 'vigalante' operation yesterday afternoon! After doing a quick drive by our place, I saw 3 teenage boys walking around the rear of our block. They obviously didn't see us parked across the road when one of the boys started picking up rocks and throwing them at our windows! When I raced over to ask what they thought they were doing, I was confronted with shock and a lack lustre response that they were 'bored'. I told them 'politely' that it was probably a better idea that they go and curb their boredom elsewhere and made my way to the sales office to let the guys in there know what had happened. I find it really frustrating that there doesnt seem to be any security being provided by Stockland in the development. I have asked previously why this is the case and was informed by Michsa that there is security provided at times when anti-social behaviour is more likely to happen, but I can honestly say that in all the times I have driven around the Ridge, (at all different times of the day) I have NEVER seen a security vehicle in there! With the school holidays approaching and a highly likely downturn in work over the Christmas break, I think it is highly appropriate that there be way more done in the way of protecting the work that is going on out there. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 194Nov 29, 2011 12:10 pm Hi all, how are the builds going? after a wet week we will have the roof on this week, so all moving smooth, i have not seen any kids, but no doubt the holidays will bring them out, god help them if i catch one. Steve Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 196Nov 30, 2011 7:47 pm Hi.. we should have our frame delivered tomorrow.. and they will either commence Friday or Monday. there has been a delay in getting our windows. I met my SS today and so far I am pretty impressed with his organisation skills and how he will conduct my build. He seems to have a good level of experience in managing the trades and seemed realistic in timings... so as we expected he is saying end of March but hopefully earlier if possible, but I do doubt that. Anyway if we can get frame/plumbing and bricks started before the xmas shutdown... Hey I am looking for some opinions on tiles... I can't decide if we should go lighter main floor tile or the dark one... We will be using all of these in the bathrooms but unsure about if we should go brown or light cream for the main floor. The kitchen will be a dark brown wood so we don't want to darken the whole house... Throw your opinions at me and why would be great.. Here is the thread.. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=52782 Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 197Dec 05, 2011 9:10 pm Things gave started moving for us. Pegged out, scraped and today formwork and the piering was done. Hopefully alot more by the end of the week. At least we should see a slab by Christmas. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 198Dec 06, 2011 7:48 pm Hi... We have a frame that is 90% complete which is great. Hopefully we see windows installed by the end of the week, plumber and brickies hopefully sometime next week. Fingers crossed. CamKat - great news on your site progression!
