Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 261Mar 01, 2012 10:34 am Richard, hopefully we get a few dry days for your driveway to get done. Is that all you are waiting on then you can move in? Are you doing landscaping once you move in? I spoke to the builder who are building the home behind us and they are doing colorbond, so that's good news and it should be going up soon. Our bricks are booked to be cleaned this week and then the eaves done and electrical next week with gyprocking to start then too Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 262Mar 01, 2012 11:18 am Hi, We need carpet, door knobs, some tiles ( that is my fault ) and stove/hood/water heater/aircon then we get the keys, window dressings are ordered and made, landscaping is another matter... we have been quoted $21k plus for fence a retaining wall and grass ( plus dirt ), so i am doing that slowly, dirt in first so i can work out levels and the retaining walls, then grass/fence. With the grass we might have to wait as the grass farms might get washed away in all of this rain. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 263Mar 01, 2012 3:06 pm Well, its raining again, but at least it was pretty dry during the day. We had some trades at our house today, but the funny thing is, I have no idea what they were doing. Initially I thought they were doing the outside cladding but when I drove back past today they were inside.. so who knows. I will have to check it out either tonight or over the weekend as I don't venture in when trades are there. Richard, not long and it will be all yours, soon hopefully we will have a hole dug and you can have the fill if you still need it. We can chat closer to the dig date. CamKat - I come along tall trees to get to my house and I saw workers there today. They have put your house together really quickly, it looks great and your colour choices are really nice. I read that Bradley Street will be open by the end of March, I hope they fill in the many pot holes before opening it. I use that entrance during the day as most times the gates are open and its great, its so quick to get to our blocks. Mulgoa Rise release their first lots of land this coming weekend. So I am sure soon we will see development in that area as well. I read that that there are only 65 lots left for Glenmore Ridge, the last of Glenmore Park. Does anyone know if through the Riparian Corridor if its a full bike track around? I do hope so. As for the fence, well its up, but I found out some more info today. Because there are loopholes in the Bushfire Protection regulations, they can get away with it... so I have a super ugly fence all the way along our main entertaining area. Now we are going to have to get inventive and build some screens to hide it. Not happy about this but at least there are options to hide the ugly cheap fence. For those with kiddies, how are they going with the building process? Are they enjoying it or getting frustrated? Mine ask everyday to go there every day and get upset when its raining and we say no. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 266Mar 05, 2012 6:31 pm we need 2 more weeks of it so we can get to lock up! Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 267Mar 06, 2012 7:32 pm We have progress - the house is naked!!! Scaffolding came down today.. Finally... I have uploaded pics onto my blog... so now we can finally start getting the lower level completed and move into the internals... Also very exciting the pool builder is drawing up our pool plans.. so hopefully once they are done and approved we can dig a big hole in our yard - Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 268Mar 09, 2012 6:58 pm Just wondering if you guys/girls can tell me 1. what particular most attracted to buy land at the ridge 2. what do you like about it. thinking about glenmore ridge myself so I would like your feed back Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 269Mar 09, 2012 8:07 pm Hi We picked glenmore ridge for a few things. 1. Downsize our land 2. The bush corridor for good walking tracks 3. The design essentials 4. Move into a younger neighbourhood. Are you looking to buy to live or investment? Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 272Mar 10, 2012 9:38 pm Congrats Richard.... not long now... I was good to meet in person the other week, I now remember you both from that very first BBQ, amazing how things come about! Our lower gutter and fascia was completed today, yipeee which means that they can do the roof and get our box sealed up! We also got back our plans for the pool today. All good, so will sign off ready for approval and then we wait for the hole to be dug!!!!! We redid our landscape plan this week as we wanted to make sure that we still had some turf for the kids and dog. It will end up being a pretty low maintenance garden which is the way we wanted it. The front garden will have quite a few plantings but out the back, limited but more for effect/screening. Key choices are Clumping Bamboo around the pool Feature Japanese maple in the backyard with screening plants along the fence. We have just spent the last 4 hours looking at lights online. We are getting battons from the builder and we will then need to get a sparky to install all of the lights for us. So many decisions about want we really need/want... How is everyone else going? it was nice to see some sun these 2 days. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 273Mar 14, 2012 11:07 am Hi All, we have had some sun, i am going out tonight to see how things are going. we have the final walk through on monday and then keys soon after, i think we have alot of people moving in now, Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 274Mar 14, 2012 11:27 am Wow, exciting stuff Richard! Saw your driveway yesterday when we were out there. The house behind us also has had their driveway done so they will e in soon too. The gyprock has started and should be done by end of the week. Hopefully at lock up some time next week. Starting to look more and more like a house with the walls and ceilings going in. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 275Mar 14, 2012 4:35 pm Cameron and Katie, your house is flying along. It looks great, we pass your house each time we drive to ours. Well we now have another boundary fence up, thankfully Masterton homes have done the right thing and put up colourbond. The SS said our lower roof will go on tomorrow and be completed by the end of this week. We have been on a bit of a shopping adventure this week and have picked our lounges and outdoor furniture we just need to order them now. Hopefully we will be looking electrical etc next week. We still cannot decide on a dining table which is harder than we thought. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 276Mar 15, 2012 10:16 am so close yet so far..... we were meant to have final inspection on monday, but now due to double bookings we have been shafted to thursday, and got another surprise bill. now im getting angry. Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 278Mar 17, 2012 10:39 am Richard does that mean you are now the proud owner of your home????? If it is, Congratulations now the exciting times begin! Me - UNHAPPY... roofer was supposed to be thurs but did not come, then fri and did not come and then today.. and its raining AGAIN, how unusual... Pool plans were submitted to the certifier earlier in the week so hopefully we will hear back early this week and then they can go dig a hole in our yard! Richard, we are really pleased that all is going well... Have a good weekend everyone! Re: Anyone else building in Glenmore Ridge? 279Mar 17, 2012 2:18 pm Gyprocking is moving along. They have started patching the gyprock and plastering the lines etc... Few door frames done as well with a couple left to do. Cornices are to be done next week, so everything is still moving along nicely. That's no good Cass. Annoying when progress halts. We are an impatient lot but will be worth the wait once it is all done. Who did you end up going through for the pool? What size/shape did you go with? We are thinking about a pool but will wait until we get in and decide which way we want to go. Good thing we will have side access being on a corner. Richard, any closer to getting keys? We will be locked out soon so will have to start looking through the windows to see our progress. A survey must’ve completed by a certified surveyor.
