Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 21, 2012 12:26 am I am looking at purchasing a block of land in Aubin Grove. It is basically rectangular with one of the front corners cut off on a 45 degree angle due to it being in a cul de sac and a lane way. Who do i contact to find out information on what the building setback requirements are from the street. Is this a local council regulation or does it have to do with services (sewerage, power, etc)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Re: Street/building setback 2Aug 21, 2012 5:49 am Setback requirements are a council issue. For example I have a corner plot in Waikiki and asked for it to go as close to the front as possible. So my house has been drawn to sit an average of 6m back however the garage sits forward and is only 4.5m from the front. It's done on how much space you have at 3,6 & 12m from the front of your block. Phone planning at the council they will tell you. You can then tell your builder where you want the house otherwise they will put it 6m back as a rule of thumb. This is particularly important if your planning a pool etc out the back.
