So far my experience has been good - you just need to get everything in writing - even if it is an email - and keep an eye on things - but i miagine this will be the same with any builder. (but i am quite particluar in what i want, so maybe i was the nightmare nazi) which house are you going with? Re: Dale Alcock Homes 5Aug 02, 2011 10:46 pm Plenty of DAH experience on this site. You need to keep an eye on them and keep the pressure on as communication from DAH is generally not good. Also look at all the other DAH posts to see some issues to keep an eye out for . Best advice, get an independent inspector and make sure he keeps in touch with your site supervisor's and follows up on issues he picks up during inspections. Re: Dale Alcock Homes 6Sep 06, 2011 6:59 pm We are going through DAH. Just had our prestart. We have had a few issues...communication, or lack of from our sales rep. However, after we started working with the sales manager, we haven't had an issue. Just make sure you don't give in to their needs. Don't sign anything until you are totally satisfied, and remember it is YOUR home, not theirs. It is YOUR money, not theirs. They work for you, not you them! We just had prestart, and we absolutely loved that stage of it! Despite our few issues, I don't regret going with DAH and would recommend them easily! Cross fingers no more issues though! Definitely keep all emails, and don't be afraid to ask if you are unsure. Ask and ask again, don't worry if you feel like an idiot asking. I tell them straight up I am having a blonde moment and they need to go over it again and again!!! Re: Dale Alcock Homes 7Sep 06, 2011 9:54 pm Too right Vans - communication is where they let themselves down. Our sales rep was a major loser and would have ended up costing us a lot of time and money unless we'd gone over his head. Comms are better now we're into the build but you still have to follow up every couple of days. Our CLO is good value though. Crawsh - just to reinforce - keep on their backs and question everything. Re: Dale Alcock Homes 8Apr 29, 2012 3:39 pm Hey MC... We too have been building with DAH... I would recommend DAH to anyone especially with the sales rep we had... what an amazing guy he was. Like the other I would stress make sure you have each change you make, anything you get promised, or accept any decision have it in writing as they like you to sign things but are hesitant in confirming things by email (not our sales rep but the CLO). Our pre-start consultant was awesome too. Any sizes that you want for specific purposes should be specified as finished sizes (eg if you are planning to have a 900mm wide fridge which requires either a 950mm or 1000mm wide recess - you need to make sure they give you in writing that the finished size will be 1000mm or if you want your internal garage size to 6meters X 6meters you need to make sure they have finished size mentioned either on the plan or your variations). Overall the build has been really good and not much stress as compared to horror stories I have heard from people building with other builders. Just keep on top of things and make sure you keep chasing the CLO up for any information you want; time frames etc.... Good luck and hope you have a successful build just like we did. We get the keys next week Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74688 I would never build with Fowler homes.
